GTA V Police Cars & Emergency Vehicles

Looks Sweet!

These police cars have great potential. Unfortunately, there appears to be at least three issues that I am dissapointed about: (1) the LEDs behind the rear window are too small (they should be about twice as large like the other type of police car pictured below); (2) the red tail lights seem to be part of the emergency lighting system such that one tail light will be completely off at times (I doubt there is a single real police car where this happens--the reverse lights should be part of the emergency lighting system but not along with the red tail lights) and (3) there doesn't appear to be any LEDs behind the front window at the top. Does anyone share my dissapointment?

The LEDs behind the window are small in the first screenshot but are fine in the second. I am with you there. For your second point, you are correct. The hideaway lights and flashers are synced up to everything else so they flash in sync and work as they would when brakes are applied and whatnot. And for your final point, there is a dash light on the front mounted behind the rear view mirror. This is seen on the Vapid Cruiser and Buffalo. It does not appear on the Vapid Interceptor.

Why was this topic moved to multiplayer > recruitment section? We are still discussing police cars and emergency vehicles and will continue to after the release of the game.

Back to topic, it is odd there are different sized LED's in the rear window. Also odd the tail lights completely black out when flashing instead of just strobing while fully lit.

Can't please everyone, I think they have done enough in regards to the police lighting. Big improvement from gta4 and better than any other game on the market.

This is a good example of the different lightbars, or at least different flash patterns.

That's what's so frustrating. They don't have to do any more. How long would it take them to make these fixes? A few minutes? It's just like the issue with the cars rapidly declerating when you stop accelerating in that it is extremely easy to fix and impacts the enjoyment of people who care about those things.

They exceeded my expectations. I was going into V assuming they would just copy and past the police cars. They are everything and more that I wanted.

They are an improvement for sure but there are still unfortunate and unneccesary shortcomings.

Why in the world was this moved to the recruitement section?

Anyway, I'm so excited that we are less than two weeks away from GTA V and from driving these awesome emergency vehicles. If it's possible, my garage(s) will all be filled with all the different police cars.

Actually, after zooming in quite a bit, they appear to be similar in size. Slight difference in length though. Can the "underbelly of paradise" video be posted here? Edited by Sanchez14

Don't see what the problem is, the LED's in the rear window of the Vapid Interceptor look fine. As long as their noticeable when turned on then size shouldn't matter.

Have seen multiple police cars with very small LED's in the windows but the flash is highly visible.

I don't see the point in pointing out "flaws" with the police vehicles anymore. The games been done for awhile, so what you see is what you get. It'd be cool if they had many DLCs for online, one that could include a police package or something. Edited by Sanchez14

I updated my post with a previous pic of the new interceptor-style police car from the back that is almost as close as the pic of the other police car. As you can see, the rear window LEDs are significantly larger on the other police car and the larger ones are better.

It's just frustrating that Rockstar is so capable of making such an awesome game and put so much work into police vehicles and yet there is nonetheless flaws that would require virtually no effort to fix. I don't even understand how they don't know that the red tail lights don't completely turn off when the emergency lights are flashing. Usually the red tail lights aren't part of the emergency lights but, even when they are, it is the brake lights that would flash while the regular tail lights would stay on constantly.

Still, what's wrong with the newer Vapid cruiser to have smaller yet still highly visible LED's? Plus yes, their different cars so they have different LED's.

The Crown Vic has larger LED's while the Interceptor has smaller and more compact LED's there isn't really a problem, their two different sets of LED's like you can buy for real at different sizes.

I agree, I like the larger ones. I just don't mind the small ones either. Edited by Sanchez14

Honestly, police vehicles could still be like the ones in the first trailer and this game would still be excellent.

It also adds to diversity. I hope, besides looking different, these vehicles also "feel" different too. There's a large variety to choose from, and they all look good, so I'm happy. I hope this forum sticks around a good while after the game comes out. They should add military vehicles to the title since its already been updated to all emergency vehicles. Edited by Sanchez14

It's about more than being "highly visible" (which we don't even know for sure--I'm concerned that the lights aren't bright enough). It's about the actual LEDs contraption. If "highly visible" was all we cared about, Rockstar might as well just put a blob of light like they did in GTA IV!

Fully agree, I even loved the GTA IV Vapid Cruiser in the very first trailer alone lol, now all the ones we have just make me edgy in excitement.

The lights should be plenty bright. It's hard to capture them in mid-flash, so in some pics they look really bright, others not so much. And the trailers that have police scenes go by so fast that its hard to tell.

I do get what your saying but there is not a problem with them being that small, as I said a bit earlier, I have seen real cop cars with tiny LED's like those so it's not like R* messed up, they're just doing a variety of lights for us.

One common "feel" among all GTA IV vehicles was the ridiculously fast deceleration that occurs when you stop accelerating and don't apply the brake. That drastically diminished the quality of GTA driving. I'm hoping they fixed this in GTA V although I wouldn't bet anything on it! I don't want to be driving down a slight decline, let off the gas and then come to a complete stop in a matter of seconds without the brake.

The CMT video shows a cool police chase for a few seconds. I'd post a picture of it if I could.

You can find it under "Security and Peace of Mind" on GTA V's official website. It's also on YouTube. And sorry, it's supposed to say CNT*

Hey guys, in the new jet screenshot, is that an extra set of tail lights just above the exhaust?

I think they're just reflectors.

Believe those are reflectors which all cars have, would be why their lit up a bit with all the runway lights.
