LAPD will have 38 Police Interceptor Sedans in October, in LAPD Paint, the chargers are already patroling, and they are also buying 50 of the Police Interceptor Utility. So it will look more real with the LSPD Paint.

Do u even live in L.A? HARDLY any Chargers are being used by the department. The last time I saw one (just 1) was like a year ago and I drive a lot.

The only police departments in the COUNTY of Los Angeles that I seen using Chargers are the West Covina PD and Arcadia PD, I'm sure there's a few more PD that uses them.

Also the CHP still only has crown Vics here.

Then again, living in SoCal myself, when do you ever see police cars? Oh, and the border patrol checkpoint on I-5 has a couple Caprices, a handful of Chargers, and a lot of CV's as cruisers.

I live in North Cal and I see Charger CHP vehicles weekly. I see Crown vics more frequently of course but not by that much anymore.

LAPD is switching to Chargers to replace the Crown Vic. They are also testing the Ford PI and the Ford PI Utility. You will start to see all these new vehicles on the street in October when they start getting switched out.

CHP is switching to the Ford PI Utility, same with LASD.

I thought the LASD was going with the new Charger Police Package

Only Taurus and CV's in the trailer from what I saw. It was only one glimpse, and there's like three short police scenes. I was unable to get pictures, so any posted would be greatly appreciated.

Here's from awhile back:

The lights can be seen through the smoke, so I assume they'll be plenty bright while playing, as well as having great range.

Where is that pic from?

Some people on this site are never, ever satisfied. The police vehicles look amazing! The lighting is such an improvement over previous GTAs and there are at least 5 different models (CVPI, Taurus, Charger, SUV, unmarked SUV) with varying liveries and lightbars, possibly even slicktops. Yet, people still complain? I've been playing GTA IV for years and my precious LCPD Impala and CVPI look horrendous! I'm so happy with the improvements from IV to V.

Some of you have to face the fact that this is not a police simulation game. It's Grand Theft Auto. You are playing as the opposite of police! With the amount of things that Rockstar got into this game, for you all to expect them to devote time to making perfect replica LAPD police cars and separate jurisdictions for every city, town, highway, etc. is unrealistic. Los Santos is a fictional city created by Rockstar. Sure, it is based on Los Angeles, but it is not meant to be an exact replica. This is their fictional city and if they want newer police vehicles (Taurus and Charger) to have a different livery than the older Crown Vics do, that is their prerogative.

Agreed 100%. There is a big difference between trying to improve the vehicles to a logical extent and just plain whinging/complaining.

Beautifully written! I'm quite satisfied myself with the updated police vehicles, I'd just be excited to see some police activities or uniforms available. At least in GTA online anyway.

They do need to fix the Charger's and the Police Interceptor's paint, make the Unit Numbers on the roofs Three Digit Numbers rather than two digit, and we still haven't seen any proof that Blaine County actually has it's own Sheriff's Office. Along with being able to have a legit job on GTA Online as a Police Officer's, Fire & EMS or other jobs.

They should make it to where whenever you get into a Police Vehicle, you always get some Shotgun bullets, unlike how it was on IV where you only recieved some bullets when you entered the cruiser. Perhaps with pistol/revolver ammo and or assault rifle ammo too?

The improvements R* have done is incredible, loving them and any of the emergency vehicles but still like others, just hope they did replaced the "POLICE" on the Buffalo and new Vapid cruisers to the LSPD seal also, that's all.

At the very least have just put "Los Santos" above the word police which most departments do nowadays.

Nope, in the new trailer there seen with the generic Decal along with a double digit unit #. The newest trailer was made from the final version meaning that's what we get on September 17th.

Why do they "need" to do this? Is it really a huge issue that there are two numbers instead of three?! And it's obvious that the white Sheriff CVPIs and the Sheriff SUVs operate in Blaine County. It's also pretty clear they are called Los Santos County Sheriffs. I don't think they made Blaine County their own police force. It appears they are policed by the Los Santos County Sheriffs while the LSPD handles the city.

As for the white and green SUVs and the black and white Buffalos, who knows? We will find out in less than three weeks where they patrol.

Along with being able to have a legit job on GTA Online as a Police Officer's, Fire & EMS or other jobs.

While this would make a lot of people happy, you have to remember this is GRAND THEFT AUTO. It is a game based on crime, not police and emergency services work. I think your best hope is to hope they include police uniforms for our characters, and then people can roleplay and such.

GTA:O is starting to sound like it will develop into a quasi-MMO type deal in the future. With enough community support, we could probably get Rockstar to add things like this in the future as GTA:O expands and grows.

Yeah, the LCPD vehicles were horrendous looking! Even the Noose CVPI looked like sh*t. They really made a huge leap from IV to V with police vehicles.

I liked the LCPD cars. Having spent so long in NYC, I can attest that they do look very accurate. Not as intricately detailed, but they're a very close match.

I've spent a lot of time IN them. The liveries were pretty accurate, but the car models were ugly. The Impala had that annoying spoiler that always bugged me, and the Crown Vic just looked bad. The lightbars were terribly done and had the same "fuzzball" lighting from San Andreas/Vice City/GTA III. No strobes. Just bad. Compare the cars in the game to the ones made by the PC modding community:

It makes the car look more accurate, besides it's how many digits we will likely use on V. LCPD had only one unit number that spawned and it wasn't accurate, NYPD uses 4 digit after the Precient Number, LAPD uses three digit number after the Division number. It makes it easier to identify who's car is who's if an Air unit is following a pursuit and you have name tags and blips turned off.

@TerminatorNY Im not talking about changing the single player, im talking about online. GTA V and GTA Online is supposed to be based around money, therefore it would be logical for Rockstar to give us alternative's to a criminal life on GTA Online. Clothes: What do you need? MONEY! Cars? You need money! Nowhere in my statement about being able to play as a Cop or other honest jobs would be in single player, or that people are forced to do so online. GTA is about freedom to do stuff.

I know you were talking about online, and the name GRAND THEFT AUTO still applies. It is a game based on crime. Do you really think GTA:O, right off the bat, is going to be a totally separate entity that is going to allow you to join the police department, patrol the streets and respond to crimes? It's not realistic to think that is even a possibility at this point based on what we have seen. It is a crime-based game, not a life simulator. You will make money in GTA:O by pulling off heists, robbing banks, stores, and various other criminal activities as well as races and the normal game modes like deathmatch. The closest you may get to being a cop might be a Cops 'n Crooks mode from GTA IVs multiplayer.

It would be sweet if Rockstar allowed players to choose whether they want to be criminals or cops, but I just don't see it happening. At least not at launch. Like I said, if the community wants it then Rockstar can possibly add it in the future.

This game isn't supposed to be spot an accurate. It's a fictional/setting, and R* can do what ever they want. Thera a lot of things that aren't completely accurate, but R* has done an excellent job. This is coming from someone just south of the LA metroplex.
