GTA V Police Cars & Emergency Vehicles

Who knows IF R* has done it but what would be really nice is in the custom shops (which I wished they'd given us in IV) is let us choose from a color palette. If R* was paying any attention to those of us playing IV on PC, they'd seen all of the mods w/ color options, DECALS! that we were able to create/change. Whether they did or not is debatable since we had car customization in SA, hopefully they will extend it to emergency vehicles. biggrin.gif

Anyway, not being a programmer, I have no idea what it'd take do it, especially w/ such a massive list of things in the game already. Still, remember when they had paint in SA for graffiti.. just give us a multi-color palette and a pointer to select a part of the car to apply the color. So then you can change your pol car to different RL jurisdictions, the blue/white for NY, and well for my state the marked vehicles we have are all black for cruisers and all silver usually for Troopers and all white for Sheriffs but unmarked can be anything, we even have cars that are *daily* drivers. I mean how often do you expect to see cops pulling people over in a red Toyota Tacoma AccCab w/ 16" alum rims & a toolbox, a silver Honda CRV that looks like your Mom is driving it or a black Toyota Celica?! The cop cars here that were unmarked always had indications w/ the wheels, all blacked-out windows & were originally all black or all white w/ a spotlight and they were usually CV's, Impalas, GMC Yukons or whatever and then Chargers but now these cars are all different models, no blacked-out windows, no spotlight, reg paint & rims etc, pretty sneaky tounge.gif

Sorry for asking a dumb question, I have only just seen this thread.

Since the OP made this thread in 2011, have R* done much work to police and emergency vehicles? I am purely curious.

I am no expert on the matter, seeing as this thread is from 2011 I was just curious to see what progress R* made with community requests.

Thanks.

Yes, it seems R* listened and improved the lights etc. on the emergency vehicles.

Example, we now see a ton of LED lightbars everywhere and blinking pattern lights on the back of patrol

cars.

...Its a good thing we have the jet on our side, theres 9 units in the new trailer on the bridge and 2 tanks setting up a road block.... not much is getting by that lol unless of course you have a fighter jet to fly down and blow them all to hell. colgate.gif ... 2 weeks, 4 days... we get to drive the sh*t out of all these emergency vehicles. If your like me, you saw the GTA 5 trailer the first day it came out and with only a little over 2 weeks left its feels like its been 5 years... Oh wait... it has lol... Feel like a 10 year old waiting for his b-day... Really happy the delay happened though. They used the time wisely while most of us in this thread were still able to get what we wanted. Now that I've heard about how sh*tty Rock * are treating their employees, they all deserve a big thank you for going out of there way for stuff like this. The first thing I'm going to check launch night is the Police Missions and see just how far this rabbit hole goes.

I kind of like it. I'm sure they did that for the sake of diversity. It seems like they were modeled after LA Airport Police vehicles:

I think it's actually a spoof on the Taurus interceptor demo cars, not the caprice. The livery likely has a mix of influences.

I agree with you, it has more features of a SHO then a caprice, The sho has been said to fit traffic police way better then the charger or caprice so it makes since they would go for the more used and liked one.

Yeah, I meant the livery. Not the actual car model.

Isn't the livery pretty much the same on both cars?

I don't think that was "Rockstar responded to community requests!"

I think that was "Rockstar doesn't have their vehicle guys stop everything just to completely finish the cop cars." They're working on multiple vehicles at a time; what we saw in the early trailers were reskinned GTA IV cars because they were early in development and still gradually building up everything. They probably always had intentions to have the various unique police vehicles and new lightbars, but hadn't implemented them by the time of the first trailer and screenshots.

The new vehicles didn't show up until the character trailers. The new version of the Vapid cruiser was seen in trailer two. I don't believe they always had intentions of placing such a variety of police vehicles in the game. Updating them? Maybe. But not creating a whole bunch of police vehicles after people complained about the cruiser in trailer 1.

That only means that the new Vapid was the one that got finished first. Again, this is a really common thing in video games. Some Call of Duty trailers showed weapons that were simply ported over from the previous game or two and fitted with the new attachments as placeholders while they worked on new models.

I don't think Rockstar puts very much stock in this forum. And frankly, I would see why: try pulling up the GTA V forum and looking for something of substance. Constructive criticism by people who understand what they're talking about. A general consensus by the community.

Your forgetting about the previous screen shot of one of the cruisers with the original seal on the door. I think there is a variety of Police vehicles and of course jurisdiction. monocle.gif

I dont like the fact they didnt change the livery on every police car but the vapid because now were gonna have different markings on different cars and its gonna look stupid. And why does everyone think there is gonna be more than one jurisdiction. If you look at all the media released so far you can see there is only Los Santos PD and Los Santos Sheriff and possibly FIB ,Army and whatever the Green SUV is. All the cars that have the generic police decal are in Los Santos thus they are Los Santos PD Rockstar f*cked us! suicidal.gif

Well, I wish ya luck on getting it changed. I honestly don't see the issue, because I find the current design to make sense, and there may be more later on in the game.

To me? I wouldn't want the game to get delayed or something beccause of police cars. But as said, that's just me. To me? Police cars are a minor thing. To others? It may mean alot more.

Good luck to ya.

Some people on this site are never, ever satisfied. The police vehicles look amazing! The lighting is such an improvement over previous GTAs and there are at least 5 different models (CVPI, Taurus, Charger, SUV, unmarked SUV) with varying liveries and lightbars, possibly even slicktops. Yet, people still complain? I've been playing GTA IV for years and my precious LCPD Impala and CVPI look horrendous! I'm so happy with the improvements from IV to V.

Some of you have to face the fact that this is not a police simulation game. It's Grand Theft Auto. You are playing as the opposite of police! With the amount of things that Rockstar got into this game, for you all to expect them to devote time to making perfect replica LAPD police cars and separate jurisdictions for every city, town, highway, etc. is unrealistic. Los Santos is a fictional city created by Rockstar. Sure, it is based on Los Angeles, but it is not meant to be an exact replica. This is their fictional city and if they want newer police vehicles (Taurus and Charger) to have a different livery than the older Crown Vics do, that is their prerogative.

To be honest, the 2011 GTA V was a completely different game than the current version. I doubt R* developed a decent police car, and then decided to scrap it in place of a ton of modern cruisers. Quite frankly, R* themselves have mentioned before that fan base opinions are important to them. Not too long ago Lezlie The Benz had an interview, and in that interview 4 player tennis for online was mentioned. He said something on the lines of "that actually sounds pretty cool let me right that down." Point being, with the huge gap between the first trailer and the release, as well as the delay to September, it's unlikely R* had this all planned from the beginning. Even more recently there have been alterations to the Police vehicles.

I agree that there is no consistency between the LSPD cars. It really does look stupid. One thing that I noticed though, from looking at the leaks and released screenshots, is that the officers driving the those Vapid's aren't normal cops. They aren't just wearing a basic LSPD uniform. They seem to be wearing a black shirt and black pants and are wearing a black plate carrier with POLICE on it, similar to this picture.

I have no idea what R* is trying to convey with these car liveries and these officers for a wide variety of reasons. The main reasons being the LAPD don't have cars that look like that nor do they have officers that wear that kind of gear (the closest would be LAPD Metro division officers but these cops look nothing like that). Again, there are many more reasons that I can go on about but I'll keep it short.

Solution: When the PC version gets released, retexture the car and replace the officers.

Do u even live in L.A? HARDLY any Chargers are being used by the department. The last time I saw one (just 1) was like a year ago and I drive a lot.

The only police departments in the COUNTY of Los Angeles that I seen using Chargers are the West Covina PD and Arcadia PD, I'm sure there's a few more PD that uses them.

Also the CHP still only has crown Vics here.

Then again, living in SoCal myself, when do you ever see police cars? Oh, and the border patrol checkpoint on I-5 has a couple Caprices, a handful of Chargers, and a lot of CV's as cruisers.
