Hey guys, I have something that hasn't been mentioned:

The main character says that he went to LS so he could live relaxed, and that he bought a big house. This hints the beginning of the game! Because if he planned to live chilled and BOUGHT a big house, this means that you start the game with a good economic position, therefore you lose the money at some point, who knows the reason, and that's why the game "focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar".

Let me know what do you think about it!  icon14.gif

I thought that myself, maybe this time we'll start out in one of the more affluent areas which would make a nice change from previous GTAs. Only VC came close to having you start in the 'nice' area of a city and even then you were living out of a hotel ha!

Haha, that's what I meant. It would be a departure from previous GTA's where you always start with no money. That would be so cool!

In my opinion, the main character is the guy driving the red car in the intersection. Or maybe the one who was driving the jetski (which is the same one that's walking on the sidewalk and moves his hand). The white guy (Ned Luke) is too old for a protagonist I think. It wouldn't fit in the fresh atmosphere of the game.

I agree it would be very cool! It makes sense seeing as they are focusing on 'the almighty dollar'. It'll be great if it is harder to get money so you are forced to do missions and side-tasks to get money etc. On previous GTAs money wasn't that important, I know there was a few missions where you had to save up a large amount of money to buy properties or pay a ransom. But I recon if you start as wealthy and lose it all, you'll end up being a bum for a while and have to sleep in a shelter or in a box to save game, then work your way up!

Great ideas thanks for sharing!

Yeah, it was kind of stupid, in all GTA's the protagonists were complaining about having no money but you DID have lots of it lol, per example in GTA IV niko said that he hadn't enough money but he had like $6k. And anyways, he didn't even want to buy nothing in particular nor that he could xD

Just had a thought, could the guy hammering the forsale sign into the ground be the protagionist? I know the voice doesn't seem to match, but it could be possible.

But then again, the guy talks about buying a big house, and that was a little bungalow...

OMG, why do you guys keep saying that random people will be the protagonists?

The protagonist will obviously be the guy in the balcony scene.

He was going to buy a big house in Los Santos. This guy is selling a house in Los Santos, so that just don't make any sense.

It's probably already been brought up somewhere on these 300 pages, but I'm just thinking if this is a road heading to the other side of the mountain? Or is it just the way the mountain is shaped?

Its hard to tell...

why? because as we don't know, we speculate. Just like you do when you say "the guy in the balcony is the protagonist"

I think him staring off into the balcony pretty much confirms we play as him. He is looking blankly, waiting for input, I think a ped or cut scene character would behave in a more complex way.

Doesn't take logic, it just takes your own damn sense of seeing things. And looking at the trailer, the man standing on the balcony was definitely a first thought protagonist.

Don't get bitchy because someone disagrees with the "multiple protagonists" idea.

Yup, there may be chances of multiple third-person player modes. We won't know anything till we get another trailer to have a look at. To me it seems that the balcony guy won't be the main protagonist.

Why do you think that?

For me, he is the most probable character to be the protagonist. Not only from what he said - he looks like he have a wife, kids and a past criminal life -, but from his voice, that match very well to his appearance. That voice doesn't match to the black guy running from the cops or the mexican man in the red convertible car.

I think it's more a question of whether the narrator is the protagonist, either. I get the feeling he is, but we can't really know for sure; he could just be a very significant character, and his narration is there for the purpose of representing the game's theme. But I don't think people should assume one way or the other. We don't have many solid answers when it comes to GTA V.

Exactly, that's something I wanted to say. Ned Luke may have a significant role, but necessarily he may not be the main Protagonist. Chances are that he may take the protagonist under his wing or teach be in his line of business. I would never give a sh*t to believe that the Protagonist won't be a young guy in late 20's. Our hero may appear in forum of the Bike guy, the guy in red convertible..and so on.

Logic? What logic is there in a cutscene where your "boss" or whatever is staring without any focus or emotion towards the city? Had they made that scene longer, you'd probably see him start to scratch his crotch like an idle Niko.

Cool, the protagonist is a realtor! confused.gif Well, at least that fits the idea of "the pursuit of the almighty dollar."

I think the rich side of LA is gonna be small but the ghetto side is gonna be large with lots of suburb areas

I think its amazingly clear that the balcony guy is the protag, it fits the voiceover, and is exactly like every other GTA launch. Everyone needs to stop dreaming and just face the "facts". geesh

I dont think having a 50year old protagonist is a good idea, especially in a game like gta.

I believe hes just a important story character.

ikr

It's killing me the amount of weird denial that balcony guy is the protagonist, but I've just accepted that it'll continue until Trailer #2.

I recommend everyone who thinks the protagonist is any of the NPCs watch the first IV trailer.

You see, it doesn't really worth it to get all mad arguing and sh*t, and that is simply because we do NOT know anything for sure. My humble opinion is that, a man in his 40's / 50's doesn't fit in the fresh atmosphere of the game. One of the black young men seen in the trailer seems more likely to me, for the accent of the voice and for the age. And I think that the voice is actually from the protagonist, because he tells about his own story, and because it would be silly to put a voice which isn't the protagonist's in a trailer that's so explosive and awaited.

This.

Just because he is the only close-up shot we get of a character in the whole trailer DOES NOT mean he's the protagonist. He looks like someone you possibly work for etc. The way its directed also implies 'looking out over your empire', further supporting that he's some boss or whatever.

Having a middle-aged fat dude who's already successful (wearing a suit) doesn't exactly provide much scope for character progression.

Moreover, the narrating voice is obviously Hispanic (the accent on "weather"), not caucasian.
