Do you guys think that GTA V's Los Santos map will be derived from LA Noire's Los Angeles map at all? Because it's amazing how realistic the LA Noire map was, it'd be cool if they used it again.

i don't think so. L.A. Noire was meant to be a more accurate depiction of L.A. gta games are always a mock up of the city the game is set in.

Postal Services are notorious for losing mail/packages

 

No, it's a mail truck that specifically says POSTAL on it, and "we aim not to lose it" is like "lose your mind" or "lose your marbles" or "I'm so mad, I THINK IM GONNA LOSE IT!" And it is just a joke because one time a mail worker a decade and a half ago or more got a machine gun and shot at a bunch of people at the post office, the media at the time called it "going postal" and there was even a game called Postal that was about shooting people because of it too.

HOWEVER, I haven't found anyone (and I used the search button, so correct me if I'm wrong) saying anything about the postal van (which just passes the curb and you still can see the '2405') and what is written on it??

Just made me wonder, if it's just a coincident or it's because IV was delayed and the don't want it to happen again?

Actually the screenshots of the number on the postal van are actually the same numbers on the curb someone has pointed out. It's not ON the truck, but the truck is just driving by the curb and you can see it under there.

I'm glad we got clarification on that, I hate all this Genesis related stuff!

JESUS CHIRST! Why the hell does everyone think that the protagonist is going to be Claude, Tommy, or Carl?! It just won't happen!! The character speaking sounds nothing like any of them!! GAAAH

true but who's to say he can't speak now. i'm not saying it's him, maybe it is , maybe it isn't. right now it's all speculation. there are so many things we still don't know about the game.

The protagonist, it cant be Tommy because he says he moved to LA 'for the weather'.

You wouldnt say that if youre moving from Miami as the weather there is just as good.

 

Im pretty sure it will be a new character. Just as CJ and Niko were.

 

The one thing I think could be misleading is when he says he wanted to retire from THAT line of work.

- Which sounds like he is alluding to a past of criminal activity.

But I think this could actually be a character who is moving from somewhere like Chicago or New York and has been working in banking or finance. THAT line of work has a bad name, they are much like criminals.

So he buys a big house in LA because he has been living in highrise buildings and working too much and not spending time with his kids.

 

A main theme running through GTAV is the recession and we see a lot of poverty in the trailer.

So I think the main character gets in trouble with money once in LA and cant afford to pay for that big house and is facing foreclosure.

Faced with losing everything, maybe this is what drives him to turn to crime the armed robbery we see them do.

It wasn't one time, it was a series of a events from 1983 onwards.

The game Postal has nothing to do with it the event apart from the game taking it's name from the phrase 'Going Postal' meaning 'killing spree' which derived from the event.

I think the slogan 'We Aim Not To Lose It' could easily mean either.

I know what goes on here, do you even know what Genesis was?

A lot of the posts here are actually backed up with physical evidence from screenshots etc so it's not just 'speculation' as you state.

This motel on the left looks like the motel where that deal goes down in San Andreas. Anyone remember the mission?

 

 

Also, judging by the shadows and the direction of where the sun is coming from, I'd say the building is facing the same way.

 

It looks like mid-day, the sun would have risen over to the left or top left of the pic, the same way it would have in San Andreas.

Helicopters now seem to have that heat haze effect, I'm guessing that it goes for planes too. Not sure what the correct term is but just look behind the helicopter at 1:07 in the trailer, you can see that effect. Not exactly a useful feature but it's nice to the eye.

What I meant by that is "A shooting game of some kind which I have never played and thus, know nothing about besides the murdering of Gary Coleman, was named Postal because of that incident or THOSE incidents. When you assume.. well, you know. I've certainly been here much longer than 2 months and yes I know all about the Genesis, Where is the Blue, and other such threads. Just because I haven't been posting doesn't mean I haven't been here. I didn't make an account or post because every other thread gets locked right away by angry mods, and there are lots of angry people who make a thread that should be fun a sh*tty time with attacks and vitriol. It didn't seem like a forum I wanted to be a part of, yet I still saw the value in it for GTA news and rumors.

 

I gave you my opinion that this board will continue to have constant speculation about GTAV until it's released, and I stand by that. You can look through the threads in a few months and confirm whether I am right or wrong.
