weird graphics since new video card

I recently upgraded my dual ATI 4850s to a single XFX Radeon 6870 Black Edition. I let the game choose the graphics settings (high). However, I sometimes get a weird effect (see screenie) usually during driving, or running and making quick view changes while on foot. The roads and buildings completely disappear leaving just cars and bridges. Tried fiddling with the drawing distance, textures, anti-aliasing and auto density, but it hasn't helped. Happened with latest and previous catalyst drivers. Any ideas? monocle.gif

Rest of my system:

Gigabyte EX58-UD3R

Intel Core i7 940

3GB OCZ DDR3

Seagate 1T SATA

Thermaltake Black Widow 850w

Vista 32-bit

You should completely uninstall GPU drivers and then install fresh ones.

Didn't work. Thanks, anyway.

No, GTAIV does not benefit from CF/SLI configurations.

So a game/program has to be able to take advantage of a CF/SLI config? I assumed it was a process with the video cards (swapping frames).

The answer to this question would generally be "yes". Unfortunately, R* have not optimized the game very well and it suffers even more with CF/SLI configs.

I suggest you use DriverSweeper or some other similar software to wipe out all traces of the video driver and then reinstall it freshly. Also, try deleting all files from the Settings folder located here - C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings
