Do you think Rockstar have learned to bring back all the extraordinary things from San Andreas to the next gen world?

I feel they will take advantage of the new engine as they've got our feedback from GTA IV and I honestly think that V with be the best GTA yet if they accomplish returning all the great things from San Andreas.

Why has everything got to be San Andreas? San Andreas was one of their games, yes, and sure it was one of their best, but that doesn't mean that Rockstar are going to implement most of the things. Just because San Andreas was one of their best games, doesn't mean they can't improve from both IV and San Andreas by implementing elements from each game. I mean, they're a multi-millionaire company who will have their own ideas. The game may not even have anything from IV or San Andreas... Stop having your hopes up for San Andreas ideas in the new game... It might not happen.

I agree. I don't quite understand why people turn the issue into SA vs. IV, as if they are polar opposites. Many features not present in IV were present in VC if not III as well. It should for argument's sake be more of a case of the III era vs. IV, I believe.

For me GTA IV was fun too.

But i get your point i hope to see stuff from SA in V like: customization, maby skills system, loot of sidemissions.

I couldn't stand San Andreas - it was ok at first, but then it was like being trapped in a crap version of Boyz 'n The Hood, thus causing a flood of wannabe fake gangstas to turn up online in IV.

I don't care where they set this one, it could be on the bloody moon. I will be in free mode, annoying idiots and laughing with my friends.

Why is everything SA this and SA that? SA isn't the only game in the series. confused.gif

How about R* bring back kill frenzies/rampages that for some were excluded from SA?

I hope R* do bring back some old fan favourites, but ultimately I want new and never before seen features.

Do you think Rockstar have learned to bring back all the extraordinary things from San Andreas to the next gen world?

I seriously hope not!

SA was crap compared to 3, VC and 4.

It was okay at first because it was a new GTA game, but it soon got old.

It was like it was designed by a 12 year old on a sugar rush.

Blind race driver?

Alien conspiracies?

Stealing secret military technology?

A petty ghetto thug taking on a highly trained army and winning?

For the most part SA was good due to the story which revolved around the rival gangs, trying to rebuild the GSF, the crooked cops, and the in-fighting and double crossing that when on within the GSF, and the hunt for revenge.

Other than that, the map was far too big and had way too much wasted space with nothing going on.

The inclusion of jetpacks, fighter planes and other OTT vehicles got old very quickly.

The SIMs style of game play was highly annoying too.

The need to work out and eat regularly was something that should have NEVER been included. EVER!

Even the skills thing was pretty lame.

It just made the main character, CJ, seem even more shallow and lifeless.

Now, I have no problems with problem with the inclusion of things like parachuting and jetpacks, but only if it's confined to a particular multiplayer game type.

Keep it away from the story.

The thing I loved, and still do, about GTA IV is the compelling story and the down-to-earth approach to the single player element of the game.

This is what I play the most, so I'd hate to see another sugar-rush arcade game like San Andreas when it comes to the story mode.

So, my hopes for GTA V are simple.

More of the same as GTA IV for the single player, with a few things refined and tweaked.

The multiplayer needs to have a Free Roam similar to Red Dead Redemption, with a few activities to do around the map, which also allow you to earn XP.

There could also be a SA style MP mode with the insane weapons and vehicles the SA fanbois want.

I see that some people are agreeing with me here that San Andreas should stop being everyone's main hopes and dreams for the next GTA. I mean, in my personal opinion I think that Vice City was better than San Andreas. As a poster said previously (above), it's only one game in the series, and it was like "a crap version of Boyz 'n the hood"... I agree totally with that quote.

You're not the only one who shares that opinion. I think all the GTA games are great in their own way, but I do get sick of the way people place SA on pedestal like it's the only GTA worth mentioning.

Sure it's R*'s best selling GTA title and is a great game, but there's more to the series than just it.

Finally smart people...

I also hate people saying GTAIV was boring. They whine so much about everything.

At the risk of offending some people, has everyone here had a huge smack to the head?!

The last time I was here this place seemed full of San Andreas ball-polishers.

Now that that's out of the way, I have one more thing.

San Andreas wasn't ALL bad.

I could stomach the "Boyz N the Hood" thing, it was just all the annoying crap being dragged in from other, non-GTA games.

It was like Rockstar employed some kid with ADHD to design a lot of the game and bring in things from 007, Metal Gear Solid, and every other game out there and try to smash it into a GTA game.

As has already been said, GTA III and VC were better in many ways.

The only thing they were lacking were a couple of things that were only brought to the game with SA.

Swimming and climbing.

And an adjustable camera.

Put those things in GTA III and VC(also proper helicopters for III) and those two games would have been perfect.

There isn't much that needs to change leading on from GTA IV, but V doesn't need anything from SA.

My other hope for GTA V is that the story/timeline is set around the same time as GTA IV, so that certain events cross over the two games. E.g. that drug boats in IV that were meant to come from Vice City.

And yes, I'm pretty sure GTA V will be set in VC.

I think the "V" is there to throw us off the scent.

You're immediate reaction is to think Five and not Vice City because it's two obvious. But I think it's a double ruse.

I agree. I mean, there have been features from each GTA that were removed or adapated in the new one, most notably as you say with rampages, a GTA staple, which were removed/not present in SA and instead replaced with Gang Wars.

I thought IV was fantastic, although it lacked in certain features, which I personally found a bit disappointing. However, as the DLC showed, Rockstar are and have been prepared to reintroduce previous features of the III era - so there is no reason for people to presume they won't do the same in V. But I don't think people should expect San Andreas Mk. II - each game is completely different from the other in its scope and feel. They all have new features, some unique, some the same, and some present in a previous entry but not in that one. IV is no different in this respect.

You must be sick of fighting IV's corner against the SA masses mate, but I don't quite understand why people hold SA as light years ahead of the other GTAs.

If there are no planes, jetpack, body customization territory controlling, cars customization... and so on, then GTA isn't GTA, hence it's not fun. Everybody is wrong, and GTA IV was boring because we couldn't shave Niko's head.

biggrin.gif Hahaha! Made me chuckle. The reintroduction of planes would be nice, however. Pretty sure it'll happen too.

In SA, we could do these things:

- Riding bikes.

- Driving dirt bikes across mountains.

- Swimming under water.

- Robbing houses.

- Parachuting/Base Jumping.

- Jet-packs.

- Driving trains.

- Driving Planes.

- Modding cars.

- Towing cars with a tow truck.

- Driving and using a Fork-lift.

- Driving army vehicles.

- Recruiting gang members to follow you around.

- Spraying/Tagging walls.

- Taking pictures with a camera.

- Starting wars with rival gangs and taking over their territories.

- Buying houses.

- Driving go-karts.

- Many side missions to earn money (example, exporting cars).

- Going to the gym.

- Play arcade games.

- Gambling at the casino.

- Horse betting and watching the horses race.

- Learning fight moves.

- Many Challenges (Example, Shooting range).

- Stadium Events ( Car and Bike races inside stadium).

- Interact with people with Positive or Negative replies.

- Gaining/Loosing weight and muscle.

- Playing basketball.

And so much more (Playing Pool, Having Girlfriends, and more) !!!!

SA was such an EPIC game !!!! wow.gifwow.gifwow.gifwow.gifwow.gifwow.gifwow.gif

There is so much stuff to do in San Andreas compared to IV, which is why it was much more fun to play, and is the best selling in the GTA series. If Rockstar want to maximize sales from the large market of XBOX 360 and PS3 owners, they must make GTA V even more fun then SA with much more things to do after main missions are over.

I strongly agree with you !

I mean come on people, imagine how great it would be to have all those features to return in GTA V ! inlove.gif

Sure I hope its fun... But I don't hope it will be like Saints Row. suicidal.gif

Those things from San Andreas (jetpacks etc), I liked them and it would be really cool to implement them into a next gen world.. Imagine playing various multiplayer games with those things.

I liked GTA IV. I liked it because of the realism, and by that I mean how the cars handled and the physics in general. GTA SA was great, but I think it was mainly because of the map. I would love to see countryside in the next GTA. Of course it had a lot of other great stuff, and I would like to see that coming in GTA V. I guess R* will make this game fun biggrin.gif

I am not a big fan of the "over the top action". We got Saints Row for that.

Personally, I don't think V will take place in Vice City, I think either Las Venturas, Los Santos, San Andreas or a completely new location.

I've never played Vice City, so I should probably stfu about that part biggrin.gif

I guess it was a great game though smile.gif Would be interesting to see the city.

This is very true, and I agree with you. The list of features there that are not in IV is rather alarming.

Look at it this way though, if IV had all those features, as well as being the first game with the new engine and graphics, where would Rockstar go from there?

With IV being the way it is, i.e. without those features, we can now look forward to, and dare I say dream tounge.gif of GTA V having those previous features on the new system. Its quite clever by Rockstar if you think about it.

Just think of the reaction if we see a chainsaw, a flamethrower, countryside, or a plane especially in the trailer - this place and net will go nuts. By taking them away from IV and mesmerizing us with the new system they can now mesermize us again by giving us back our favourite toys, so to speak.

Just think of how much more you will enioy and appreciate them in V due to them not being in IV.

I hope so.

IV got boring literally in a week or two.

There was pretty much nothing but the awesome physics and graphics at the time.

Otherwise it was like Driver 3. City empty of activities, you just drive around and shoot sh*t.

(duh, of course it was better than driver but you know what i mean)

I don't get why people are flaming so much that he's just mentioning about bringing back the fun SA had into V. He's not saying that he wants V to be San Andreas...

I mean cm'on III & Vice City might be better in some way's, but they are nowhere close as "fun" as San Andreas is.

There was soooo much you could do in San Andreas it never got bored, never. V needs to be as "fun" as San Andreas, which this guy is meaning. He's not saying it has to BE San Andreas, he saying he wants it to be as fun as it and god I hope it will to.

GTA IV had all the realism, now it's time to combine it with fun = V, the ultimate Grand Theft Auto.

It seems pretty clear to me that everyone wants the same thing and just doesn't realize it, hence the mild arguing.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the realistic physics(Though some tweaks would be welcome I'm sure) of IV, and the mass amount of activities present most notably in SA, though the III Era in general had this.

Granted physics, graphics, and activites aren't all there is to comtemplate, but I believe that, for these things, we're pretty much in agreement.

San Andreas was fun and I welcome the choices and customization that were in the game but as long as they don't interfere with the story. There were so many great things to do in San Andreas but I think the story was pretty weak and would not want a zany story in V.

I think there should be a choice if you want to do those crazy things or not, I don't want to be forced to like San Andreas did in the story sometimes.

Take out Jackpacks instead add wildlife

GTA SA just had the lack of seriousness and emotion

But if they throw in Seriousness, emotions and more realistic stand point like in GTA IV and some features in RDR then GTA V will be a great game.
