Algonquin Assassin Posted October 30, 2011 Share Posted October 30, 2011 (edited) I'm going with a April/May 2012 release, with May being the most likely considering for the last 2 years R* have released 2 major titles (RDR and LA Noire) in May. I don't think MP3 will be a problem. It's being released in March and I can't see GTA V being any earlier than that. It's not like they'll be released on the same day. When you think about it May would be ideal. I know Max Payne has a different fanbase, but most fans of it are probably GTA fans as well. By that time (May) most people will have already been done with MP3 and wanting another game. The 2 month gap would be more than sufficient. It gives time for MP3 to get some breathing room and at the same time it gets people ready for GTA V. I can't see it being October/November 2012. As some have said the time between GTA IV's first trailer and its original release date was only about 7 months. The only way I could see that happening is if we had an epic delay again like GTA IV, but we shouldn't since R* are working with consoles that are half way through their life cycles and shouldn't run into the same technical problems they had with GTA IV. Plus I don't see them intending for it to be that long. Yes I know typically GTA releases occur in October and probably would've gone with that period if it was announced sometime early next year, but it has been announced in October which to my recollection has never happened before. Atleast not with the GTA III era up until now. So IMHO a realistic time frame will be April/May 2012-October/November 2012. Anything earlier/later doesn't fit with R*'s traditional mould. I think they want to avoid the delay which happened last time as they have kept the fans waiting long enough, I can't see them making people wait another year. I don't think MP3 will be a problem, it will have a 2 month + head start and I think the game will do well but not be a MASSIVE hit like GTA or even Red Dead Redemption. Mainly because it's the 3rd of the series so if people havn't played the first two then they might not get it straight way due to them worrying not know what's going on. Therefore I'm thinking Christmas 2012. Well it was supposed to be released on 16th/19th October and was delayed to April.. And the announcement was in May 2006.. almost one year before the first trailer. Now its different, only one week between announcement and trailer. I think it won't come out before summer.. or in summer. At the latest (in a pessimistic way) it will be released in first quarter 2013. I'd say October 2012 end is perfect timing for their release for PS3/XBox and if the world doesn't end in December we can expect a PC version in May 2013.. Why do people keep thinking MP3 will affect GTA V? I don't think it's been said already, but MP3 is being developed/published by an entirely different R* studio. It's not even a R* North production. R* North are only releasing ONE game in the near future that we know of and that's GTA V. As I said I can't see it being released before April/May 2012 and MP3 is being released in March, so that at the very least gives a 1 month gap between the two and a two month gap in it's in May. IMO that's plenty of time, so they don't clash with eachother. R* are a big developer and could very well handle staggering MP3 and GTA V. Someone pointed out that Saints Row came out in the same month as IV now SR3 will be out already. They did both seem to take the same amount of time with making their respective games. V will be out 6-12 months after SR3, talking considerablly longer. Lets hope this means there's A. No delay B. It's more detailed/bigger that SR3. Also, in response to the guy apparently working for Rockstar on facebook who gave the apparent release date as 05/09/2012. We don't know if thats the American way to tell the date or the Euro way. It says he's from the Nederlands but he's living in New York. It's May or Sept, they are both Wednesdays. A Year? EDIT: There is a possiblilty of a release in May. L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption were released in May. Next in line GTA V. May will be 6 months from November. Makes sense to me. Rockstar usually do things outside the box. Also, Rockstars games ,amongst other games devs aswell, compete with film releases and box office sales. Most of the good films and games come out in time for Christmas, then the Oscars in the new year. So, Rockstar could be starting a trend to release their tripple A titles in May, the start of the summer, usually when other big games aren't being released, such as COD series, Battlefield & FIFA. Other Rockstar games, like Max Payne, Manhunt, could be released around the calender. That's my theory. All Grand Theft Auto games were released on October or March-April, so i don´t know.
