Grand Theft Auto V Announced

For the first time in GTA's history the series has serious competition as gaming has moved up many levels since GTA IV and I can't f*cking wait to see what Rockstar the sandbox masters have in store for us!

I disgaree. Pay the ENB Screenshot Thread (in my sig)a visit or check out my, Vanni's and iCELaGlace's shots out using iCEnHANCER.

It was ground-breaking then. It's ground-breaking now. It's just that we've already played the storyline. If a newbie modded with iCEnHANCER and then began the storyline together with the graphical update you're playing a graphically-up-to-snuff title, for like, $20. turn.gifpanic.gif

   ll_local : 'http://media.rockstargames.com/rockstargames/img/en_us/'

  }

});

Cache from visiting the trailer announcement and countdown page which I opened to check if there were any possible internal pointers to other files avail. In red above, I thought was a rather odd name for a script cache string.

Bishop Ohara was a character played in the 1992 film Sister Act. The movie is set in Las Vegas. blush.gif

A - W - E - S - O - M - E find, dude!

Assuming it's all legit and not plants by R* or rubbish from ppl, I'm getting more and more convinced of this whole Vegas thing.

Only trouble is, I was never a fan of the Las Venturas-end of GTA-SA. It seemed the point where all the ideas dribbled away.

Hope they can fix that this time.

That said, Vegas in the 70s/80s would be WINRAR. Mobsters, casinos, nice. Today LV is just disneyland-with-hookers. Dull.

Not to say I wont play it. biggrin.gif

Then maybe the "_10" means the time of the game? = Las Venturas 2010?

Remember in the JPG V banner the name of the file was untitled-10.jpg. Any other references to 10 kicking around? xD

This could be a reference to the game being released in the 10th month - October.

@Australia - Exactly. Everything fits together if you believe that the casting calls are real. I'm not saying they are, though. That's Rockstar's call, as they are the only ones that know the WHOLE truth. An announcement after nearly five years? A trailer a WEEK later? It's a speedy release, Rockstar is planning on bombarding us. Why would they announce it and then announce a trailer in a week if it wasn't already done, or at least nearly finished? If the trailer came later, we could safely assume it would be a normal release, but the overall feel of this whole announcement is a RUSHed one.

Anyone picking up what I'm putting down?

It does make sense. From memory, L.A Noire had a relatively short turn around from the 1st trailer (not the first old school 2006 one) but the "modern" one to release. The game clearly has enough hype to double trend on twitter. I'm guessing a Mayish release.

It's a mid-year release, not an end-year release = proven.

Casting calls for a Rockstar game that sounds like Grand Theft Auto (actors, suburban moms) = proven.

Neither of these are proven yet.

Yes it is i have given two big clues of the release date which i have worked out. 1.) on the tail of the plane of TBOGT credits 24/05/1972 or 24/05/2012 and the annoucement date with 11+2+11 = 24 and the letters FIVE to get the fifth month May and them together 24/05/2012 there is the release date

The clues are a match

That's not PROOF. That's SPECULATION and CONJECTURE.

@FuzzKnuckles - Finally, someone who's not an idiot.

@The Rocker - Unless you work for Rockstar, you know as much as the rest of us so stop commenting like you know everything because you don't. All you have done is put some numbers together to conjure up a release date. NO PROOF

Or it could be the 10th draft? That's how things are saved...

HeNDo6750 said the announcement date was given in TBOGT, so if that's the case, then they may not have had time to change the name of the picture before it went up, as yesterday was the scheduled date for it (R* keeps their promises whenever they can).

EDIT: Of course I don't work for Rockstar, but I'm not retarded. No offence. The answer is staring all of you in the face, nobody thought IV was going to be in Liberty City, and when the time came they were embarrassed because it turned out "D&T" was right. All it takes is a bit of intelligence and the right information to go on. Also, I never posted any numbers, I posted sources.

You know if R* use SA, or VC again they wont be the same maps right? They'll be completely overhauled like GTA IV.

Yes i do and i have got the release date and proof at 13:04 of TBOGT credits on Youtube and the announcement date with adding them together and the letters FIVE on R* homepage.

How many times have i got to repeat myself facedesk.gif

Repeat yourself all you want, until you show some actual proof that would hold up in court, you got nothing but your own ideas. That is NOT proof.

@FuzzKnuckles - Finally, someone who's not an idiot.

Y'know, it goes hand in hand with being a party-pooper, but really, people are already taking this too far.

I dread the OMGBIGFOOTVSRATMANMINIGAME threads we're going to see in the coming months.

People - you need to be realistic.

In god knows how many years of GTA, what have we had?

Liberty City. Vice City. San Andreas. That's HOW IT WORKS. It's INCREDIBLY unlikely this formula will change, as it's worked for years.

The time frames might shift, but again, I find that unlikely. V will be Los Santos/San Andreas, as indicated by every bit of information we've seen so far (a logo, a leaked casting call). These have been "confirmed" by "sources", which are almost certainly reliable.

So, I believe that we'll see V in SA, and it will be around the '92 era.

And I believe VI will be Vice City. YOU KNOW, THERE'S A CLUE, VI IS THE BEGINNING OF VICE OMG WTF?

I can draw this in crayons for anyone that can't read.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

Employees of Rockstar went to California on a two-week paid vacation = proven.

The next Grand Theft Auto uses the RAGE Engine = proven.

It's the "big one" (if something is considered a "big one" it pawns everything that led up to it) = proven.

It's in the modern era (LifeInvader.com, CashForDeadDreams.com) = proven.

It has to do with money (look at the logo, look at the newly registered Rockstar websites, "CashForDeadDreams.com") = proven.

Why not? GTAIII was modern day, GTAIV was modern day.

"So, I believe that we'll see V in SA, and it will be around the '92 era."

This was just a thought, I have no proof, much like any other theory flying around here right now. But I think that formula worked before, so it may be the case.

Obviously it does. Rockstar wouldn't build a whole game engine from scratch to only use it in one game and two DLC packs. It's just illogical.

But, then again, most of the stuff on here is illogical, because people are using their imagination, rather than looking at facts. In anticipating and speculation of Grand Theft Auto Fi[V]e, I am only looking at the facts. Hell, it won't be where I want it to be, I know that... But at least it's going to be an epic game nonetheless.

The Nefarious
I think that it will be set in Dallas. The five clearly refers to the fact that during a basketball game, there is only 5 players on the court from each team at any one time. Who are the current NBA champions? The Dallas Mavericks. Ya'll have a pleasant evening.

That was a joke.

Dallas is actually a good suggestion though. In the 80s the TV show of the same name was a rivetting soap opera set to the backdrop of harsh texan country sides and uber capitalist agendas of texan oil tycoons. Not only was it essentially all about money but the aforementioned description could also be applied quite easily to a GTA game

From a logical standpoint, yes, they will be using a modified version of their own internal engine for the foreseeable future.

However, they didn't build it for 1 game and 2 DLCs. Table Tennis, Midnight Club LA, GTA IV-era, Red Dead Redemption (and DLC), and Max Payne 3 all use RAGE.

@ccrogers15: Tell that to GTA2. It was a new era, on the same console set, with the same engine.
