What if it's San Andreas? Would you be a happy with a new version of it? Or the original map of SA, just updated to today's tech used in L.A Noire/GTA IV?

I don't think they will use the same map for a remake, they didn't copy / paste LC's map either.

 

It will also ruin the "discover"-part from the game, one of the things I enjoy most, so if.... if they do the entire S.A. state, I hope it will be a totally new map to discover, but with eye-cathers from the previous S.A. state

Good point. An identical copy with better graphics would be kind've boring to explore.

Well yeah, that was fairly obvious. 2012 seems like the most likely year. I'll be very disappointed if they drag it out until 2013.

I place my bets on a 2012 release, and game in current time.

 

2012 is a year R* can't miss... Epsilon, Maya, Doomsday.... 2012 would be a nice year for Peds walking around, yelling crazy things about the end of the world etc etc. (Genesis *wink wink* )

I really don't want it to be present day again, but I have to say 2012 is looking the most likely for the game's setting. sad.gif

Not going to happen. The V-five logo is taken from a US dollar bill. For me, that's the a very strong indication that the game will be set somewhere in the US.

No offence but it doesn't mean you're gonna see THE SAME San Andreas/Vice City in GTA V. You'll feel it a lot different so in my holy opinion - there's no reason to take place of GTA in other places than LC/VC/SA. They're interesting enough.

No offence but it doesn't mean you're gonna see THE SAME San Andreas/Vice City in GTA V. You'll feel it a lot different so in my holy opinion - there's no reason to take place of GTA in other places than LC/VC/SA. They're interesting enough.

Not that I didn't like it, but I would like some fresh non-American setting. It would be a whole different culture, atmosphere and feel to the city.

Holy sh*t, abandoned this place a few weeks back since I've got so much work going on, till a couple of days, then I am greeted with a anounced Next GTA and it's name, GTA V, as well as a countdown to the trailer.

 

Man I am so happy, just when I was giving up hope on GTA and starting to think R* are concentrating on other games like Max Payne 3 and the ironically mysterious Agent game.

 

I am also quite surprised they are starting a completely new cannon. I guess only GTA games with an odd-number have multiple-game cannons.

 

GTA 1 had GTA London 1969 and GTA London 1961.

GTA 2 was a stand-alone game with no other games in the cannon.

GTA 3 had Vice City and San Andreas, as well as semi-cannon games Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories.

GTA 4 had no other full games in it's cannon - The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were arguably DLC expansions.

 

So this game, if my system stands, will have two full games in it's cannon. This will also likely be the finale for this current generation of game consoles too.

 

I am also extremely excited at the prospect of them starting a whole new cannon of GTA games. I am really hoping there will be big advances in gameplay with this. I think the graphics and physics of GTA 4 were more than sufficient, especially considering how that game pushed this generation of consoles' hardware to the very limit.

Actually, I think you're right. I definitely don't recall GTA IV having a release date in the first trailer (might be wrong though)

gta san andreas trailer was 1:16 seconds long and at the very end showed a date of october 2004, no speech tho.

 

and the 2nd trailer had a specific date of October 26th..with speech

 

screen shots normally come out way early in production. trailer a good time later in production since they're usually montages full of completed 'scenes', so they may possibly have a lot completed..

They did shortly after the GTA IV trailer, if I remember correctly. Although I think they were all cinematic/action shots.
