I think the logo is the way it is partially so people don't mistakingly call the game "Grand Theft Auto Vee"

 

Unlike past GTA's, V is the first one that can be seen as more than just a number.  III was 3.  IV was 4, it doesn't make sense as anything else.  The same situation will happen with "Grand Theft Auto Ex"  There might as well be a small banner around the X with "TEN" written on that as well.

I think it's to stop people saying "OMG, it's a V so it must be Vice City or Venturas!"

And what gives you the power to tell people what not to say?

 

I for one am hoping for Las Venturas.

I was attempting a full read through the topic, I ended my last post around page 99, Keep getting temped. Anywho, to be on topic, reading these topics that go like wildfire, Genesis, ETC.... It's a challenge.

A tip I see is you can use the OPTIONS to your left to get a printer friendly version, follow the threads that way, Just an idea, if you wanted to sort all theories and info presented.

 

I'm wondering if the idea of multiple start points mentioned has any credibility?

 

Wasn't suggested since my ban that I saw, but reported that depending on where one might buy the game (USA only??) The starting point in the map would differ. This offers a way to play as 5 different characters effectively, doesn't it??

I hope this also means a bigger role of money in the game.

I also believe that money is gonna play a bigger part of the story and maybe even the gameplay,the only GTA game that you really needed money was vice city (in order to buy estates to play missions)all the other games money wasnt really needed at all

I don't see how a bigger role in money would playout well in the storyline, fine if you can get the money and buy stuff then cool, if it's like IV with much money with little to spend, f*ck it.

That III beta video is sweet. I would find it very interesting to make the impossible possible and actually play the very early dreamcast graphics version of III. Wasn't it also originally being developed for dreamcast, too? It looks so horribly comic-like and clumsy, but would be fun, I'm sure. Back in the day many gaming mags published screenshots from what seemed to be the alpha(?) version.

 

One thing I will definitely keep my eyes on is what we see in the trailer next week and the future ones and compare it to the final release. Character changes, mainly, the features will most likely be discussed towards release. They changed Niko's head a few times during development.

Pre-2001, as I recall, from the endless speculation about GTA games and the impact of 9/11

 

I did get GTA 3 after the rave reviews poured in, and it seemed like that Open World was just the type of game I wanted

My earliest memory of a GTA type game is Sega Genesis' Technocop, when you think about what that game entails.

I would say base some dates around the trailers like GTA II here, 1999

 

 

 

I saw one mentioning the 9 year anniversary for Vice City, only about a year after GTA 3's release...it's no wonder everyone gets so anxious nowadays!?

I've seen some pictures from VERY VERY early development of GTA III. The pictures are pretty small but you can clearly see on them the game looked just like GTA 2 but in 3D.

Back then GTA was more of a mad environment and crazy graphics and gameplay, and compare to GTA now, today it is more grown up than those early days and back in 2000/01 people never thought Grand Theft Auto would become a brilliant game series of all time and with VC, SA, LCS, VCS and IV with TLAD and TBOGT. Keep going strong Grand Theft Auto for another 10 years

My wife is making fun of me because I am taking off work on Wed. so that I can be home and comfy when the trailer is released.

 

To celebrate the announcement of the announcement I've been playing through IV on the Xbox. Friday is computer night in my house, so tonight I will be playing TLaD on my PC. Good thing I have one of those fancy high end PCs that gets 70fps on the IV series.

 

I love and hate this time of announcement/rumors/actual release. I've seen too many rumors of PC release close to or the same date as console release. I know it can't be true...but holy hell - that would be a nice treat. I was anti-console up until this past year, so I always had to wait out that year for the PC releases. Even if it wasn't a full year it felt like ages.

It's not unlikely in one way: if the game is ready to be put on to disc, then Rockstar have the clout to get it out in time, and it would sell. However, Take-Two are predicting their share price would exceed $2 a share in the period April 2012 - March 2013, and only GTA could do that, so that would suggest they will release it next year.

Claude Speed is the casting name in the II trailer I posted, it's more like the full conceptual video that opens the actual game ... I had the Dreamcast version for a little while, it's just been ages since I played! haha

You should be quietly confident of a quicker PC release, Trip - I'm sure Rockstar have learned their lessons from the GTA IV port, and have more experience dealing with the configuration problems that arise.

Tripster, Don't start a war you can't finish! Consoles just have the most market share, demographic, as far as PCs that can handle gaming, not saying I can't now game on PC, but that consoles have done pretty well in the tech evolution

 

I'm also thinking the game could release before July next year, but it WILL NOT release this year, that's pretty much easy to figure out
