Grand Theft Auto V Announced

I'm thinking we'll need a new topic for the trailer, this one will be difficult to keep up with and we won't know where it starts and ends.

I'm sure there'll be a highly detailed analysis topic for it. The community will be able to dissect it frame by frame and hopefully we'll get a lot of clues out of it.

If it is anything like IV, we should have plenty to work with, and I'll certainly be analysing the trailer in detail.

GTAV is probably nearly out of development, or it should be and onto the testing stage by now. Teasers are normally done whilst the game is in its early stages of development just to keep people enticed. They don't need to do this for GTAV, there is enough interest surrounding the game.

ya... these are gonna be the longest days of my life. what's gonna be worse is when R* actually announces the date, i haven't been this hyped for a game's release since gta4, lol. i'm actually pretty excited for skyrim tho, but man... i've been waiting for this announcement for a long time now.

On another note, don't you guys remember when this section was called GTA:Next but was changed to GTA V like a year ago? Don't you think the admins had a clue on the game title or information? Just thinking lol.

Everybody thinks LA Noire and Midnight Club: Los Angeles completely ruined the chances of V being in Los Santos, but think of it like this... Are those games GTA, can you do what you can do in GTA? Also, L.A. Noire wasn't developed by Rockstar, so they may have a completely different take on it. I'm hoping for a completely re-imagined San Andreas, not LA. Actually, I'm not sure what I want, but I'll tell you this: neon lights and parties. Please, if it is going to be another depressing game, I doubt like hell I'll make an effort to get it, and rather just wait till I can do so with ease.

 

GTA3 > Dull. GTAVC > Bright. GTASA > Varied. GTA IV > Dull.

 

GTA V > Bright (hopefully).

Hmmm, was just reading the "Rockstar's Priority is “Doing New Things” thread when a thought popped into my head.. "What if GTAV was done in first person?" I know it's a long shot and will more than likely ruffle some feathers, but hey...just a thought.

I'm feeling a chicago location. We've had east coast and we've had west coast. We had a southern location with VC, so now I think we'll see the only major geographical area not covered by R* which is midwestern.

Impossible. Dan Houser said no first person in an interview.

 

Don't have the link, as I'm doing this from my phone, but it'll always be third-person. It's their opinion that they are not making videogames, but playable movies (don't get your hopes up for a GTA movie, though, the Houser brothers are against it ATM).

Count me in...i hope it's DC as well. A whole story based on corrupt politicians/unveiling conspiracy theories would be pretty interesting. It's funny that "Agent" had a similar plot with the whole cold war spy thing going on.

RDR's map size is overrated. It's big but not huge. Here's hoping it will be bigger than RDR.

No LA. Already featured in LA Noire and Midnight Club: LA.

So they have enough experience with LA. And LA Noire is 1920 or 30, so there is a huge difference between 30th LA and 2011th LA.

 

But I m sure it won t be only one city. Otherwise R* don't listen to any of their fans, because nearly everybody wanted to get countryside and with that there will be automatically at least 2 cities.

Something I've noticed about the logo: The inner V (the "spearhead") is directly below the "V" in the banner (which contains its own little "v").  In fact, there are 5 Vs in an almost diagonal line from bottom left (the outline; the inset; the "spearhead"; the "v" of "five" and the "v" inside that "v".  Probably doesn't mean much - except I've looked at that logo far too long - but I thought it was a nice touch nonetheless.

 

If I had to make a couple of wild speculations based on the above, I would say: maybe there'll be five generations of the same family or something, or five playable characters over the course of the game and extra content.  Each character has their own story in V, and so there are fives Vs

I love these wild guesses but I honestly do not think there are any hints. Maybe to get us talking, but none to spoil the game. They are clever, clever people and I'm sure they enjoy reading theories like this

Yeah, I'd agree; as I said, wild speculations. It's probably one of those things with symmetry graphic designers do to make logos look good (though this logo doesn't scale well, nor the detail in the letters; the splash screen on the R* site looked a bit ugly, but the smaller title at the top of this page looks much better).

IGN have now picked up on the multiple character story. But I'm looking forward to finding hints from the trailer, don't think anything is 100% yet

Let's hope so, but since I never played RDR, I don't know how much detail is in it. If it's up to GTA level, we can probably expect the same size or bigger. It all depends on the level of detail, not the actual size of the cities themselves.

 

I'm also wondering why R* doesn't use substances instead of textures, according to my knowledge, the size is drastically reduced. Though, I guess the RAGE engine can't utilize it.
