It is up to you. I find that taking as many as possible builds up CJ's respect to max quickly. It also allows for Maxing out CJ's weapons skills, as well as allowing a great oppurtunity to make ca$h. By the time I can move on to the next island I have generally ammased over 200,000$ dollars (most often 500,000$)

The money is best used to buy Safe Houses, as weapons are aplenty to pickup for FREE if you spend time looking for them.

It alos makes good practice for the latter wars, which have to be done.

Some people feel it's a waste of time merely because you will lose the territories.

Again I say, get the Money and Skills early by doing them.

And also once you get to the final few missions of the game, you HAVE to of taken over a certain percent of hoods before you can continue the story.

Only in the second go... you don't need any in the first round.

Excluding Glen Park.

I never get ANY Hoods in First go, except Glen Park.

Because I waste my time getting Hoods I will lose anyways.

Then I get all of them in 2nd go, excluding Azteca's.
