Finn 7 five 11
I just got the game for my iPad 2 and I'm really impressed. The controls take a bit getting used to but overall, I really love it! One thing: is it just me or did they add more detail into the graphics? I don't remember seeing actual engines and car badges or beer signs in the windows of resturants when I re-played GTA 3 5, 6 years ago. They added all that extra shizz in the Xbox version. I remember there were badges on the PS2 version as well, but you had to zoom in with a sniper on the bonnet until it glitched and you could see through the grill, i remember the taxi had a blue Ford like badge. Judging from the screenshots, the graphics look, cleaner/sharper than the original PS2 graphics.
Rhoda
Making gentle progress on this now, just started Salvatore's mission strand, just about to start Toni's mission where you have to infiltrate the fish factories with a Triad van. I'm quite surprised at how used to the controls you get. I'm actually scared of the missions where there's an emphasis on heavy shooting. Do the controls work out ok? How does the aiming work? I've tried shooting peds and cops during a small rampage but I can't figure out how it works! Any tips? Honestly? For me, it's been blind luck. Early on in the game when I could get away with mild shooting, I tried tapping the person I wanted to pop, but that didn't do anything. I find just facing them and shooting works, because then I get the little red target and then he seems to lock on. I discovered that during Pump Action Pimp, though I did end up passing because he rolled onto his roof and didn't get out.
Marzipan_jew
I honestly do not understand the frustration with the controls... they're really not that hard, at all. I beat the game pretty easily on my iPad. Turismo? easy as pie, first try I won. Bomb da base? Easy as pie, first try. I'm playing it on my iphone now. I was expecting it to be quite a bit harder... not really. I beat both of those missions first try as well. It was only marginally harder on the smaller screen. the only missions that gave me difficulty were the final El burro mission, and the final story mission. I'll just practice some more and I'll hopefully get the hang of it! I just started El Burros strands and Turismo was easy as pie! Idk why everyone complains! Shooting is absolute rubbish, you cant even lock on before firing anymore, thus actually removing features that were easy to include in a game ten years ago. never thought id say i miss the aiming system from GTAIII but here we are. I kind of agree with you. I did love the GTA 3 way of targeting. The new way is kind of wonky when I try to shoot someone and shoot a different person on accident. I guess I'll just get used to it over time

HOTMILFDAD
iPad 2 screenies ^ Blue Hell entrance still works Also, did anyone know that if you tap the map, you get a full map that includes the gang locations, as well as safehouses and such? Don't bother zooming in though, it's all pixelated. Edited January 6, 2012 by Nigel xD
friendly luggage
Won't be waiting for the S2 version, just gonna download(read "pirate") it and play it with my S2 using Chainfire 3D. Your loss R* I was going to buy it from the marketplace on my Galaxy S but I'm too tight of an ass... hey it's your loss R* Fixed. It's because of people like you, a Vice City 10th Anniversary is looking more and more unlikely. Just buy the app, show your support and let R* know they're doing a great job. @Screenies, those reflections are looking mighty fine. I would oh so adore it if they released a PC patch with all these improvements but I guess it's just not meant to be.
Rhoda
Okay, I can see Bomb Da Base being really tricky for me. I've just had a go now, popped the first two clowns at the bottom near the ramp jet fine but I really struggled keeping up with 8-Ball. I think it'll be easier re-aiming after taking those two out so I have more time and better reflexes but it's going to take some practice!

I would actually buy it but when I search for it on the marketplace it's not there. Which R* studio made this game? To me it seems like the one which ported IV to the PC which was the most resource stealing, poorly optimised game what's ever been on my hard drive. Thank god millions of patches improved things though.

lpgunit
Has anyone else besides me tried running GTA3 on a Galaxy Tab 7.0? My dad and I took turns making Claude run and/or drive and it was a breeze. Dunno about modding, tho; I've seen some horror stories on mods not showing up properly on Mali 400-powered devices like the S2, but I'm yet to confirm this with the Tab. Zee
The shooting is terrible in this port. The only gun worth using is the uzi because you have to constantly run around to re-acquire the correct target, and now when youre too close it just punches them like in gta4! So lets get this straight. they couldnt fix a TEN YEAR OLD PROBLEM with thr game, and infact made it WORSE. Terriffic.

Finn 7 five 11
Pretty cool thing i was just thinking, Rockstar has one of the biggest, best and most popular games on other gaming platforms, and now they have quite possibly the best game available on mobile devices. Pretty cool eh? I was going to get the Iphone 4s, mostly for this game, but i decided on the S2 since its 300 bucks cheaper here in Aus, i might go pick it up next week. buzbegone
Can IT work with iOS 4.2.5 or IT has to be iOS 5? I was tinkering with my cousin's 2nd generation iPod Touch which was unable to update higher than 4.2.1, rendering GTA III unmovable due to iTunes being a slut. So we jailbroke it but I had to head home at that time so don't know what became of it. @Question, try moving it to your Apple device and it may or may not tell you that the device needs to be updated. If it does, you need to jailbreak. Even after jailbreaking, the device may not be powerful enough and you can get sh*tty framerates. Haven't seen anyone mentioning the absence of the loading screens when travelling between islands. It's more like a 1 second wait mid-gameplay.
