Mascaron
I’ve always played GTA IV on Xbox, but I’m about to go to university and my brother is keeping the Xbox, so I decided to get it for PC. I bought a copy off Amazon a few days ago, and have been trying unsuccessfully to play it since then. So far, this is what has happened: 1. Installed it, graphics were unplayable. Added “–norestrictions” to shortcut and changed the graphic settings. The character models and car models were great but the environment was mostly just grey - a lot of the time everything seemed to be floating. I tried tweaking the settings but nothing seemed to make a difference.2. Next time I tried to start the game it got to the loading screen and kept looping through all the character artwork forever. 3 Reinstalled, downloaded GWLC and Microsoft .NET (DotNET) 4., and updated to the 1.0.7.0 patch, after which the game wouldn't launch at all, briefly appearing on the taskbar then vanishing. 4. Reinstalled it again, and it said it couldn’t download Rockstar Social Club (and wouldn't work without it), so I downloaded it manually but my computer didn’t recognise the file. Downloaded the 1.0.7.0 patch again, as this patch says Rockstar Social Club is no longer needed, but I’m running into the same problem of the game not launching.Any suggestions? mkey82
Do you have the latest GPU drivers installed? When you start the game, are you using the launcher?
Mascaron
Yes, I am using the launcher, and I’ve updated my drivers, but it still won’t start.
mkey82
Install this GFWL update or try using xliveless.
Mascaron
After updating the GPU drivers I reinstalled it, and it worked perfectly until I downloaded the 1.0.7.0 patch. I'm hoping it'll work when I reinstall it again, but I'm guessing it doesn't like the patch for some reason. EDIT: reinstalled it again, and it’s working again. Is there a patch I can download that’s ‘safe’, or should I not bother? I don't really want to have to reinstall it for a 5th time...
