Rucke
I might be wrong but there aren't many video games out there that allows you to use laser sights on weapons. Probably about 90% of all video games allows the player to use some kind of weapon, but of all these video games I can only remember about 10 different games to allows you to use laser sight. I mean imagine all the fun you could have with this feature. Are there any particular reason why so few developers have included it? It would be perfect for GTA for instance. It isn't necessarily only a first person shooter feature.
WF the Hobgoblin
I don't see much point in them to be honest. The only games that I can think of that had any real use for them were Resident Evil 4 and 5. There was no crosshair so you had to use the laser to see where you're aiming. E: MGS games as well. BLlTZ
The single games that I remember having this option is Crysis and Counter-Strike, Fallout 3, New Vegas but modded. Resisdent Evil 4 and 5 as well for TPS, Hitman Blood Money TPS & FPS.

Inky
But I think there is so much more they could do with this feature. Especially with this generation of consoles. So aside from putting laser sights on more guns what else could they do with this feature then? Put laser sights on fists so when I'm unarmed I have deadly accuracy? meta187
Deus ex HR has laser sights, you can upgrade all weapons with it. And they work beautifully I might add, until you look down the site in FPS then you can't see them over the actual site of your pistol. @Inky: lol. I just pictured that in my head. ~ Studio: Q-13 Lounge / Q:13 Warrior Tunes / Interweb Chex Mix, yo.~

E.A.B.
No need a laser sight or crosshair work the same way in a video game. In real life, yeah, its better to have a laser sight for aiming. But otherwise, there is no point
CryptReaperDorian
I know Battlefield 3 will have laser sights. It seems like it will be most useful to somewhat blind your enemies while shooting them in the head. @E.A.B.: That's not exactly correct. I have played SOCOM: Confrontation, and I always had to use a laser sight since the gun was always swaying within the crosshair. They do help a lot in games where guns have sway. vertical limit
Crysis on PC had iron sights and laser. You choose one of them.
Slamman
If you remember the TERMINATOR original film, 1984, Arnold is at the gun shop collecting his arsenal, and he gets the pistol with laser sighting....just in. So it's assumed only SLIGHTLY ahead of reality, I believe. It could work if not over-used where it could become confusing

It is nearly as big as a rifle scope compare to the minute ones that used today.
AreXi
Also the laser sight they used in Terminator had to have a much bigger power supply than the ones nowadays. That's the same Hardballer Longslide that was used in Terminator. The cables ran from the .45 into Arnold's M65 where the battery was hidden. He had a switch in his left hand which he used to activate the laser. Ontopic, Left 4 Dead 2 had laser sights, which improved accuracy a bit. Yeah the M14 had it, and every gun did not have cross hairs, though they did have iron sites. Formerly known as The General

sivispacem
One reason may well be that laser sights are rarely used on actual firearms, particularly in military scenarios. Put simply, they've visible, which makes it very easy to identify the direction of fire and respond. Claude4Catalina
know how hard that would be if facing armoured enemies? granted if it was something of militia level, eye protection wouldnt be number one priority, so effectively a laser sight would work as a designator...in other words you'd realize if someone shinned light into your eye, if you can line up that kind of shot, you may as well go for a kill shot, Moe Greene special. If you can get the laser on somebody, then they will be blinded for only a second (if it's in their eyes) before they are killed.
helicopter12
I think lasers are a bit overrated to be honest, and can be distracting. I just prefer regular sight, especially in first person shooter browser games! ____________________________________ Living in a World of Tanks Edited August 7, 2012 by helicopter12
