GTA V Graphics

As I mentioned before, I'd say I'm a "Graphics whore" it's why I took post school courses in Commercial Art, I like what art is because of it's very essence, Not a make or break for game function, but as GTA and RDR are Open World games that are based in a REAL reality, graphics are just important no matter how you look at it. RDR runs on Xbox just fine really, GTA may have had issues, and I found that on both console versions, but if RDR were an indicator of the same RAGE and Euphoria evolved, we could expect some good in-roads made.

I don't think that the GTA V graphics will be alot much better than GTA IV , just expecting A GTA V with an updated and more optimized rage engine , or A GTA V with a new engine

if you still think it will have much better graphics with the rage engine , i'm sorry to tell you no , the GTA IV with it's crappy blurry graphics already sucks on console, very low distance of view ( objects) u cann't see people's faces from a distance more than 50 meteres ? ( or less ) , you will only see grey poeple ! , Very laggy game play, [ i'm used to play it on my computer 50fps+] and never played it on console, but when i saw the game on my friends ps3 , i was like W*F !! the graphics were very bad, and not sharp at all, fps drops and kills the gameplay [ it stays less than 24 ? for long seconds some times especially when you have many cops behind you, or in a crowded area , any way i don't know why people keep playing it on console, what ever, If it's gonna be a graphics jump, here is my theory

the difference between pc and console version will be like the difference between call of duty black ops for nintendo DS, and call of duty black ops for nintendo wii OR even ps3, and it will be more cool if the pc verison comes out first, it means they port the pc version to console

that will be cool, it's a good solution, and us pc games won't be bottlenecked by consoles anymore biggrin.gif

and our overpriced video cards will find some thing to show off

Hopefully as good as enbseries/Icenhancer. It would be pretty sad if they were outdone in the gfx department by modders, though not unexpected. Look at what was done to IV, SA, III, Oblivion, Fallout, numerous other games that have been completely transformed by their communities. Studios should get the message that we want the best, to hell with minimum system requirements!

GTA IV with ICEnhancer(and other mods) is incredible on the modest rig listed in my sig.

I have a feeling that V will disappoint compared to that. At least until ICEnhancer comes out for V.

I expect it to look like Max Payne 3. MP3 will be the latest game that will be using Rage and Euphoria. I think that will be a very good inddication of the level to be expected.

I never thought about that

I'm basically expecting the graphics to be top of the range and some of the best that the gaming industry has to offer. That's what we witnessed in GTA IV, so there is no reason for that to change this time.

Still, if it looks good in stills and any trailer, that's gotta pump you up, I just feel it in my bones!!

@Claude Speed III new member of the GTAF,

What are you watching the game on, you sure you have HDTV connected and settings on both ends? The game does not look as you think it does. In HD, TRUE HI DEF, it lacks the textures and intricacies of Red Dead Red, but it's still on par at a basic level, the problem is memory buffering as far as filling in and draw distances and the consoles seem to do better with other games so there should be a marked improvement on this end

i could really care less about graphics, i mean look at Super Mario Brothers for the NES.

cookie.gifcookie.gif Spot on. Spot on. GTA V can have the worst graphics ever, but if the gameplay is exellent I'd still get the game.

ENB like graphics would be great, but that means they would have to cut down on features.

GTA IV has pretty poor graphics by today's standards. The standards have changed hugely since 2008, and GTA IV doesn't look nearly as beautiful as a lot of the new games that are coming out.

@hi999: Easy now! Don't even expect GTA V's graphics to be even close to those of the Frostbite 2 engine. Look at Battlefield 3 (which is using the Frostbite 2 engine). Those are some of most beautiful graphics I have seen in a video game to this date.

Yeah, but it could be shooped. And I do agree that IV's graphics are a bit piss-poor nowadays, especially since it lacked any sort of indirect lighting. Try going to a shadowed area in IV and you'll see how flat, bland and lifeless Niko and his surroundings are.

PC versions can always be tweaked, versus console versions, always patched, and mods not allowed, there's too much legal hassle when you allow people to mod and perhaps even REVERSE ENGINEER which is illegal, so consoles like protected HD devices give you some additional perks (more studios conform and issue games on something universally adopted and protected uniformly) because of their protected nature.

Despite the lower quantity and attention PCs get in gaming terms, they will always be there thanks to their multitasking, and consoles look to be here for the long run as well. 3 and 4 core now, but the memory should be massively increased in the next gen., and I hadn't given much thought to it, but SSD in place of the SATA Hard Drives would be VERY fast, twice as fast as mechanical Hard Drives I was reading, this from back in 2007, when they were still under 100GByte

if they are taking all this time making GTA V, i'm sure they are making it on a new engine,

i'll accept it and buy it, if it will have improved gta san andreas graphics, and better gameplay, i prefer the old engine better

I think that the best way to evaluate GTAV's graphics is by simply considering what Rockstar has done already with RAGE. Look at RDR, GTAIV and the episodes (edited LA Noire out since it doesn't use RAGE but it's not impossible that GTAV would take advantage of motion scan) and you'll have some sort of an idea how GTAV will pan out. Personally I'm expecting some open vistas and wilderness a la RDR and improved and overall smoother graphical performance in cities.

In comparison to the iCEnhancer mod, GTAV will definately not have as sharp and clean textures etc. As far as lightning effects go, though, I think there will be clear improvements to GTAIV and as a result GTAV will look a lot more vibrant and real especially during night time.

Overall, don't let your hopes get too high, consoles have their limitations. But expect to see improvements all around and especially with performance/FPS and so on.

in consoles im expecting a tweak of the GTAIV engine, much like RDR with worse draw distance derived of the major level of detail required for a full scale city. people defiinitevly should NOT expect nothing like enb series or other mods for PC in consoles, remember they are hardware from 2005!

in PC should look great obviously and will probably require a NASA computer lol suicidal.gif

My thoughts exactly. My PC barely made it to play GTA IV in low/medium settings.

Damn, The Markets are going to win in the end by forcing me to buy a game console for V! angry.gif

The PCIexpress card nVidia (PALIT) GeForce 8600GT is tapped to work with GTA IV, I still have mine, but now debating an upgrade for the next GTA.

However, if you can do two in series, SLI, could work out well for GTA improvement, just need a $200 motherboard! haha

All good graphics on the pics.

I would assume rockstar are going to use a tweaked RAGE engine, if somebody could confirm that they deserve a cookie.
