There's already a World Trade Center mod for GTA III on GTA Garage. bored.gif

the old WTC and its not that good, it cant be seen from a distance.

Yeah, that's a very great idea ! Maybe I can help with texturing.

About the height of the buildings, I think it's because of the solid model. The Jefferson St. Credit Union Building (the highest of the game) has a solid model until a certain height, and the rest is only a texture. I think you sould do the same with the Trade.

Another thing, you sould remove the aerial freeway, it'd be easier to place the buildings then.

is there a way to disable the traffic on certain streets so i can remove the freeway?

I think so, we must rewrite the paths. It's probably possible by modifying main.scm.

Darkel's missions weren't removed due to 9/11, the missions were never completed and he was cut months before.

Thank f*ck hes finally come in and put an end to all these retarded theories. I doubt we'll ever know what this cut mission was, or what the reference to terrorism was. Clearly it wasnt given to you by Darkel though.

 

BTW I got my PS2 copy on the day of the release and it cannot be completed 100%, I've tried twice with this copy, and both times I complete everything on the list and its still stuck at 98%. I have a later copy that you can complete fully. I guess in the rush with that one mission removed they didn't end up fixing the percentage.

Finally new info from Dan Houser. It makes a lot more sense that Darkel was cut before 9/11. They didn't have time to change much after 9/11, and the cosmetic changes Dan listed are believable for the amount of time they could have spent on it under the circumstances. There were certainly other changes between previewed betas and the final game, but most of them had nothing to do with 9/11.

I will but you know gta3 had different ps2 versions dont you? After a couple months they re-released it with the hookers disabled. Ive tried to load my save file with a different gta disk and it doesnt work. I remember getting into this same argument with demarest years ago, maybe it was only for the PAL version, and only the first release but my game cannot be completed 100%.

I expected that answer... if you are able to fly the dodo or the tank, you'll see that Liberty city is almost unfinished... a lot of buildings have no roof, or they aren't solid on the top. Plus, the pop-up effect is terrible, and the distance is very low. Someone could says that the game was unfinished, and after the 9/11 they simply choised to not correct those bugs, since the ability to fly was removed: FALSE, because the game was set to be relase september 19th, 2001, and, even if 9/11 never happened, they had no time to fix all this bugs.

 

So, this means that flight was cut months before (like bkes, that were originally planned), along with everything related to Darkel.

 

By the way, the fact that darkel was cut months before make me sad... now, we have no REAL explanation of why the storyline of Donald Love is so filled of plot holes and unfinished... when they will relase the Q&A????

 

On topic: i've found this picture of staunton set clearly months before the relase (as you can see from the old logo)... it could be useful for this topic?

Dan Houser is a good businessman. He does the wrong thing for the right reason. Lying rather than keeping his trap shut about everything just to keep little assholes who whine, bitch and are never happy with the way he runs the business happy.

Might be an entrance that goes underneath the stadium. Thru the wall.

Looks like water inlet/outlet to me.

 

maybe they put some kind of industrial building there like a sewage plant or something.

I doubt they really changed much of the airport most likely they just cut and pasted it when they realized you shouldn't be allowed planes until the final island.

Inconclusive. Washington Beach was pretty small in Vice City's conceptual stage. R* made it even larger. Maybe they are into empty spaces ;-)

 

Anyway, the observation about the ferry was a good one. It was still a consideration even after the choice to place the airport in SV was made...possible evidence that it was never "moved" at all (i.e. when actual programming was taking place).

 

Regarding the problem of planes being available too soon if a Staunton airport existed - that problem could be remedied by refusing to spawn Dodos until SV was unlocked (similar to the way that the BF Injection does not spawn until SI is unlocked). So that would be no problem at all had they chosen to use Staunton as the location. And that is even speculating that they anticipated that the Dodo would be able to fly long distance (the jury's still out on that question).

R* never hid the control method for any other vehicle in any other game.

 

I'll go with that diving to produce a climb was an unintential effect unless anyone can prove otherwise. There certianly isn't any achievement awards given for surpassing the few seconds otherwise possible from intuitively pulling back on the stick (and R* never attempted to complete the collision and texture files for buildings higher than that). Also notable is that the Dodo's prop has no effect once airborne (whether you accelerate or decelerate in the air makes no difference at all).

 

The available evidence suggests otherwise. Seems the only aspect that fits is the hidden names on the map (but then again, they may only be there because of assuming that nobody but the game devs would ever see them - just like how "ghost town" is where it is...instead of being someplace above vertical limits as they did in other games).
