aNegiAn
Hello everybody I am new in the forum and sorry if I am writing in the wrong section. I have been playing GTA SA for many years, but recently I changed my PC and my OS to Windows 7. Ever since then, I am experiencing a problem: my mouse doesn't work at all in game, it only works in the menu (it only navigates in the menu, for example I click on an option and it doesn't respond). After a search, I found that a lot of people have the same problem. I changed the game compatibility for the Windows 98/ME as it was suggested by some of them, but nothing changed. Can you help me with this? Thanks a lot.
lil weasel
Welcome, Topic moved to Trouble-shooting. This is an Olde Game, many questions can be answered with the FORUM TOOL: SEARCH. Always SEARCH before making a ‘new’ topic. Try playing the game using W98 (or XP) compatibility mode, with Administrative Privileges. GTAXtreme.
Or if you are playing on a New Windows Version, try to press Escape Button from you keyboard so that your game pauses and press it again to make go in game and this sometimes makes your game work. Or change the Compatibility to to WinXP. Also you can try pressing the Windows key in-game and then restore SA.EXE from Taskbar and then your mouse should work. These are some tricks that worked with me, when I faced similar situation.
aNegiAn
None of these worked.I have an AMD Quad Core CPU,does this have anything to do with my problem? Thanks
trip
It happens to me too. My solution has always been to go back and forth between the game and the menu - after a bunch of flip flops of that, eventually the mouse kicks in for me. lil weasel
Have you set the quad Affinity to only the "0" cpu?
radioman
Since you mentioned that you changed your OS to Winsdows 7, Did you remember to delete the .set file from the User Files Folder?-That file WILL get recreated the next time the game is run... Also, 98 compatibilty mode fixes that problem for the most part(it will still happen occasionally, but the fix is the same as XP Sp3-whereas all you have to do is esc. in and out of the Pause menu a few times a viola)-it is NOT like it was on Vista where if you got the mouse freeze, the game would freeze causing you to ctrl+alt+delete to the task manager and exit the game from there..There is NO Permanant fix for this problem, and it persists on XP SP3, Vista, and 7... Just make sure you have the latest SP for Windows 7, which is SP1...

Girish
1. The mouse does not "crash". It simply doesn't work or respond. 2. This can be resolved by running the game in Win 98 compatibility mode. No need to install XP SP2. 3. Don't bump old topics with incorrect information.
