MARKUS.
I want it to be more or less like Red Dead Redemption...and the blood effect... and the fact that you can see the bullet in the clothes or in the head
Secura
I've said it many times before but what the hell... Guns in IV were extremely under powered where as in RDR they felt strong and powerful, each one had an element of danger to it and you knew an NPC with a weapon wasn't as easy to kill as they were in IV. They were dangerous and ruthless, the game had a sense of danger to it like no other. Also RDR's Blind fire system was a hell of alot better than IV's. Well Lightning, its either many enemies, more powerful weapons, or less enemies and more underpowered weapons. Personally i don't see the next GTA lifting the shooting physics from RDR, they may take something from it,but the shooting will probably be unique to the game, RDR was more shooting based anyway. Just like the fact that GTA doesn't use Midnight club car models or steering physics, it just seems like a cheap rip-off. By the way as for a new engine? Erm nope, that will not happen. You see the reason they created a new engine for IV was because R* did not own the previous engine and decided to create their own. Now that they have an engine, which is actually pretty good (could use some optimization for efficiency), they will simply continue to upgrade it. Even if they did completely revamp it, it would probably still have the same name.
mrpain
The shooting was fine in IV. Just that the blind-fire and cover system was goddamn awful.
kesta195
My ideas: -Get rid of the health ring, just have the reticule like in RDR (since when you shoot someone they should go down quickly anyway). -For NPCs wearing armour, include a damage ring around the aiming reticule, as opposed to their health bar. -Improve cover system (take some things from RDR like better cover to cover transitions and 'real' blind firing (with no crosshairs)). -Either have the aim assist set to the equivalent of 'normal' in RDR, or improve aiming sensitivity/responsiveness and have no aim assist. Well in GTA IV you could turn off the health reticle around the player if you chose to do so and there was a armour and health ring around the enemy if they were wearing armour. blowtorchrepair
RDR-esque shooting, particularly the aim assist (less of it, only snapping to the target for an instant), would be nice. And, a way to keep aim assist from targeting your friends in a free mode game would be nice as well.
Original Light
I would prefer the single white dot like in RDRs single player, and a white dot with a circle around it for multiplayer, as in multiplayer, having the extra circle can aid you in the area you want to shoot. Since single player gunfighting is going against AI, while in MP your fighting against real people, some with no lifes that are really good at the game. They should also have RDR shooting options: *Casual: Locks on the Target and stays on the Target (full auto aim). *Normal: Locks on the Target for 3 seconds, and then goes in to Expert aiming. *Expert: No auto aim at all. Those are my ideas, and I think they should work really well in Grand Theft Auto V.

Good ideas, but i think 1 second would be better, that way you are on target but have to do the rest of the shooting/aiming manually, 3 seconds the guy you aimed at would already be dead. How many seconds did RDR do it? Im going to get a stop watch and find out. Okay, in RDR it locks on for 2 seconds. Sunrise Driver
They could remove it. GTA would be fine without it.
tranceking26
I would give the shooting system in GTA IV a rating of 7/10 BUT they need to stop you aiming at the innocent ppl nearby instead of the guy with an MP5 nearby! Also when you are facing a group of gun toting gang members you should aim at the most threatening guy 1st & so on...
