EFLC only 7 FPS but good hardware

hello,

got only 7 FPS with low graphics and following notebook:

dell vostro 3550 plus with

Core i3-2310M 2x 2.10GHz • 4096MB • AMD Radeon HD 6630M 1024MB

Windows 7 Home premium

also tried to change enrgy saving plan, but no change

in game intern benchmark i remarked that there is written: Grafikkarte: Mobile Intel® HD Graphics instead of radeon hd6630m

could this be the problem?

i hope you can help me to increase my fps.

Thanks!

Isn't that one of the machine's with the switching graphics cards? Although if it is it would seem like it's not doing the job properly...or you've got the visual's increased far too high.

You say 'Good Hardware', I say 'No'.

A friend of mine has a Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz and he has everything lowest and the game never reaches 20 fps.

Although, I don't think I should mention it as he has an HD 2400 card sigh.gif

Don't mind me wink.gif

I gues the problem is that the game sees the Intel GPU, how much resource usage is available in the graphics options?

OP's system should be perfectly capable of running this game at above 30fps. Core 2 Duos use a less efficient architecture than the i3 and obviously they also lack hyperthreading technology. wink.gif

As far as I know, this laptop implements switchable graphics to help preserve battery life. You should root around the AMD graphics control panel to get this sorted out with GTAIV, so that it recognises the HD 6630. I'm unfamiliar with this, so I cant go into much detail about it.

Once you get it working, make sure the sliders aren't too high and you aren't expecting too much performance out of your laptop. The settings should be on no more than "high" and the sliders should not be more than 20 to maintain a fairly smooth framerate and at the same time, acceptable image quality. The autoconfig will often overshoot, so you shouldn't really bother using that to get a representation of smooth settings.

As it has been pointed out, your laptop is trying to use the built in Intel card instead of the AMD one-So, Switch the Power Saving mode to High Performance and enable the AMD card as default-here's how:

This is a video I made a couple of months ago to show people how to do it....But, just a heads up, as far as I know, the I3 is a weaker processor than the I5 and I7? confused.gif

The only difference between mobile versions of the i3 and the i5 is that one of them (the i5) implements Turbo Boost. There may also be minor differences in clock speed depending on the version of the processor, but most of the time they both perform almost identically in games.

Turbo Boost does make a little bit of difference in gaming from my experience, but you can definitely get by without it. I have it disabled on my laptop because I don't like the processor getting to 95C in games like GTA4 without a notebook cooler under it. And I personally couldn't tell any performance difference between having it enabled vs disabled. tounge.gif

p.s. damn, that song on the video is bassy. shame the song sucks.

Ah, my bad. Thank you for correcting me smile.gif

That means that ALL you have is an Intel Video card-it seems your laptop does NOT have the AMD graphics card(which according to the Dell site is an optional add on)-Here is what it says on the Dell site about the graphics on your laptop:

With an integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics card, the Vostro 3550 turned in a 3DMark06 score of 3,331. That score is about 300 points below the HP ProBook 4530s (3,633) and the ThinkPad Edge E420s (3,627), both of which house the same GPU but faster processors. The Vostro 3550 is also 600 points below the category average of 3,909, though a number of the machines in this category have more powerful discrete graphics cards. You can also order the V3550 with discrete AMD graphics.

So, since all you have is an Intel video card, you will not be able to Run IV/EFLC very well(if at all)-the best you can do GTA wise on that card is III, VC, and SA...?

Side note from above-I too noticed that the model of my laptop(HP DV7), is the same way-some models only come with an Intel HD card, yet some come with ATI/AMD cards-depends on which one you get...luckily, mine came with the ATI Radeon graphics and is able to run IV...

That's your problem, change it to high performance and install latest drivers.

may your laptop has a switchable graphics features (like mine). The main video card must be turned off to save energy. Refer to your laptops manual on how to switch between video cards. My laptop can play this game in 20-30fps at lowest settings.

MSI CX420

Intel i3 2.13ghz

2GB DDR3 RAM

HD5470 1GB

yes i also have switchable graphics.

I have an ASUS Notebook N60Dp Series and EFLC runs pretty fast. Although, the bench mark says I get nearly 17 fps.
