Spider-Vice
Okay good to know you bought your game. Go to Start, Run (or search box if you have Windows Vista or 7) and write dxdiag, then OK or click the result. Then tell us the info that appears on the main page. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Spider-Vice
Okay it looks like a very powerful computer. Try going into your graphics card manufacturer website (On DxDiag go to Display and then go to the appropriate website (Nvidia or AMD)) and download the latest drivers for your graphics card. If it's an Intel card, try going to the Intel website. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Spider-Vice
Do you have an idea if your game version is v1.1 or v1.0? If you bought it pre-HotCoffee fiasco you must have v1, if so try updating the game at R*'s page. If it's already v1.1, you could try updating the DirectX libraries from the Microsoft Website. If nothing works, I'm not sure what to do let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Yoite
It was 1.0 but I updated it to 1.1. Of course the problem still remains even after updating. And updating the DirectX libraries didn't work either *sigh* I have problems with everything it seems.... lil weasel
When the Game has worked before and suddenly stops playing right. You Delete the GTA_SA.set file. It is created at the end of the game play session. It contains config settings of the computer which may be out of date due to a system upgrade that the computer may have made to itself (automatic update). radioman
I think it is your PC, as it says you supposedly have Windows 7, but the screen shot looks like the Windows 98 screen..? Windows 7(and Vista for that matter) looks nothing like that... Also, What is your Video card? and What is the VRAM? How much of the VRAM is dedicated? How much total VRAM?-this info can be found under the Display tab on the same screen as your above shot... Also, Is this the Retail(DVD) version OR a Downloaded version? If Downloaded, from where? Is this a V1, V2, OR V3 game?-If version 1, you may need to install the official Patch, as I believe only V2 and V3 games work on Vista and 7-even though it looks like you have Windows 98? Do you use the Original disc to play OR a No-DVD crack? Is this the Original disc or a Copy of said disc? Any Daemon tools installed on PC?-those can interfere with games...Are ALL drivers up to date for the Video card, Sound card, and DX?-meaning you have DX11? Do you have the latest SP for Windows? Have you tried deleting the .set file in the My Documents/user files folder? Please Answer ALL the above questions, or else it may be taken you have an illegal version of the game and also without this information, we cannot offer much in the way of help... I use tune up utility's to adjust my system for best performance, hence the old looking theme. I do have windows 7 My video card is a AMD Radeon HD 6570 with 4068MB of memory. I've already said this... I have BOUGHT THE GAME that was v1 but I updated to 1.1 and I do use the original disk to play. My drivers are all updated. I have dx11, and there is no .set file to delete because the game will not start even after reinstalling. lil weasel
Reinstalation? Did you: Delete the Virtual Store copy of the installation folder too. The Appdata folder might be hidden. (e.g. C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas).[/b] To Unhide Folders: START > User > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Folder Options> Show Hidden files and Folders. Please try to read the posts carefully and just not swift through Also it seems you've never went into Windows' personalisation options, you can set Windows Classic theme since XP. let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! radioman
Also it seems you've never went into Windows' personalisation options, you can set Windows Classic theme since XP Actually, Windows XP was the very first PC I had(and even it never looked like the screen shot above)-besides, Why would someone want to use an older Windows theme, when Windows looks better on the Default theme-especially Vista and 7? I mean, that would kind of defeat the purpose of upgrading to a newer OS? I mean, if I wanted the Windows 98 theme, I would install Windows 98-if I have XP, Vista, or 7(which I have all 3)-it would make more sense to just use the Default theme, imo ... Just curious... I did read the whole post, and the OP never mentioned What Video card he had nor the vram for that card nor did he mention if his game was Retail or Download nor did he mention the version of the game and whether or not he had the Patch or not or if he had mods installed, etc...So, that is why I asked that stuff in my last post... @OP, What is the Dedicated VRAM for that card-the 4069MB is the TOTAL(both dedicated and Shared with System Ram)...Dedicated vram is what games use...? But, since he has V1 and Windows 7, that could very well be the problem, as V1 was only designed to work on XP and older OS's, to my knowledge? V2(and later V3) were the ONLY versions that had Vista requirements on the box(and that would include 7 too, as 7 is an update of Vista?) and it says on the box that Vista has higher requirements to run the game than XP and older OS's do...from the box(V2) it says for the Vista Requirements: 1.5 GHZ Pentium III/Athon X2 or better, 512MB Ram, 128MB Dedicated Vram with a Nvidia Geforce 6 series or better... That is for Vista and 7-it also mentions that "Windows Vista system requirements MUST be met" Those are the Minimum requirements from the box for Vista(and 7 as it is an update of Vista)..Just a friendly heads up.. But, since SA is an older game, you may need to use an older driver version for the Video card to make the game work right? Yoite
Dedicated vram is 1GB. I also tried running SA in compatibility mode and of course it didn't work.
radioman
Dedicated vram is 1GB. I also tried running SA in compatibility mode and of course it didn't work. I wasn't talking about Compatibilty mode-I was talking about "rolling back" to an older driver version for the Video card, since this is an older game that came out long before(like 4 years before) 7 was released..preferably the Original driver version from when that card was first released...That's more than likely why I never experiance problems with games, as I never update drivers for the Video card unless it is absolutely necessary...?-As on my XP Home and Pro systems and my Vista Home Premium and both 7 Home Premiums systems still use the original driver version from the day I got the PC's-which for the XP Home laptop, I got that one back in 2005 and never had to update drivers for that card... Also, as far as resolutions go, I think you MUST change that BEFORE you start/load a game, otherwise the game will crash? It was that way for VC(and III?), so it may be that way on SA, since it is the same canon as III and VC? Spider-Vice
How do I rollback the driver? And how do I change the resolution if im not ingame? To rollback the driver version, right click Computer, Properties, on the left panel Device Manager and expand the graphics section. When you see the graphics card, right click, Properties and the option should be on the Controller/Driver tab. But if you said upgrading drivers didn't work earlier in the thread, all you're doing is going back to what you had let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire!
