fenderjaguar
Hi. OK, so I run the game on an i5 2500k and a radeon 5850. I use dxtory to fix the frame rate at 45fps @ 1920x1080 and the game runs perfectly. I have everything on high, except night shadows which are turned off. With those settings, my GPU is about 70% usage, but sometimes when it rains it might go up to 90%. So I'm happy with that, because I don't want to have the frame rate drop from 45 fps at all, because the game stutters when it does. I have been using the auto settings for draw distance, detail distance and traffic density. I'm thinking these things are more CPU dependent? My CPU isn't really working much during the game, so I'm wondering if any of you guys have any tips for those settings. Can I whack them up and use the CPU more, but not have to worry about the GPU having to work harder? Thanks.
friendly luggage
Cranking up the view distance will put more of a strain on your graphics card. Your hardware is good and you're running the game at a high resolution and fairly high graphics I suppose. I don't think you can just say to the game "use more of the cpu" Although what if you bring up task manager and then right click on gtaiv.exe and set the priority to something higher. You could always try this but I don't think it will make much of a difference. It could make it worse What are your settings by the way and what patch are you using?
