Game freezes every 2-3 seconds

Hi everyone,

 

I've got a Dell Inspiron N5110 (core i7, 8gb RAM, GeForce GT 525), running with Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64).

 

I've checked the minimum and recommended requirements for the game, and my laptop absolutely suitable with the game, even in high graphics.

 

I don't know why, but after the game starts it runs pretty well, but every 3-4 seconds the game freezes for a moment, and then continues.

 

I'll just say that my drivers are up-to-date, and I've checked that the game uses the NVidia graphic-card and not the integrated one.

 

Any ideas?

Does it lag or it just freezes between seconds?

EDIT: If so then it is likely a virus. Try cleaning up your system with Anti virus solution

Nothing seems to be wrong with the game

 

Either you have a process that take up most of the CPU usage. Try killing it

No process is using my CPU that much, and actually I'm pretty sure there's no virus here.

I'm a security expert, so I know a thing or two about it...

 

Can't figure it out.

 

BTW, I tried to lower the graphics in the game's preferences, but it wasn't helpful at all.

Maybe you have some kind of battery saving application?

Yea. ^ Maybe you have Batery Saving option on? How about try to turn maximum performance on?

Yes, I've tried, everything is OK in that section.

 

I've tried to update (again) my graphic drivers and installed the game's available patches.

Now the game stopped with the lagging, but it still runs pretty slow (or is it just me?).

Try running it as administrator. Or try cleaning up your system.

Also shut down the application which is not actually required

GTAIV is very demanding and you usually need an outstanding machine to run the game smoothly. Laptops usually have problems with the game cause of the large amounts of heat generated, overheating, CPU speed throttling etc.
