Well, we don't know anything about the battery capacity of the Vita.

Which is better, same as the bloody Nintendo DS Vs PSP debate, neither of them they just do different things. The Nintendo 3DS is lacking at the moment from poor selection of games and a previously high price point however with titles like Resident Evil Revelations, a new Professor Layton, MGS and a number of others the game selection is looking more promising.

 

The Vita obviously has power under its hood and hype surrounding it. Plus it looks to have a decent selection of games, problem is so did the PSP. I remember the PSP had power under its hood, hype surrounding it and what looked to be a decent selection of games and the PSP while good never really achieved its full potential as far as sales go.

3DS battery life is 3-5 hours, depending on screen brightness, Wi-Fi, sound volume, and 3D effect. 3 hours .

Vita, I guess. But I don't really like handheld "console" games. I'd rather have thousands of cheap games on my phone that I can buy for a buck or get for free. If I want a real gaming experience, I want to cherish it, and not have to play it on a tiny screen and have to worry about battery life. I don't have to play top quality engaging story driven games every where I go. You can call it casual, but that's the type of gamer I am away from my home. There is no need for me to buy and play a big $50-$60 game 10 minutes at a time when I have Plants vs. Zombies for $0.99.

 

And I don't have to carry another electronic device in my pocket. Handheld's future in in the phone. I'm not sure if there is much of a future for console makers in handheld gaming, unless they make phones.

So far, Sony seems to be doing everything right with the Vita, they've got a good price point, a good line up, a good launch set up, really getting developers involved with the console, cross gaming chat, not skimped on the hardware (who remembers the troll articles about the Vita only having 256MB RAM ), etc, so really, I'd wait, because with that much behind it, the Vita launch is either going to be beyond amazing for gamers, or it's going to fall flat on its face.

I may like Nintendo, but I'll be the first to list off their faults:

 

Constant banking on nostalgia; re-re-re-releases of old games; the Wii's marketing scheme focusing on your grandmother who doesn't give a damn about gaming; Sub-par hardware; playing ''f*ck the customer'' by overpricing the 3DS then lowering the price when no one falls for it; no F-Zero this gen.

 

I get it, Nintendo has some sh*tty practices. But when I hear 13 year olds that think Halo was the first FPS ever say dumb sh*t like ''Oh man that sh*t is for kiddies my mommy was making me hot pockets and we totally ripped on that kiddy console so much that we needed a diaper change'' it irks the hell out of me. It doesn't surprise me that most people on a GTA forum barely played with Nintendo consoles and don't know of its library (except for MARIO and ZELDA). But some of the things people say are mad ig'nant, nigga

Like I said; hardware doesn't make the console. The software library does. The PS3 was the best console (hardware-wise) of this generation, yet it wasn't the 'victor'. The 360 was. The PS3 wound up being ''that one console that gets all the 360 ports''.

 

Exmaple 2:The Concorde was an incredible plane, yet it never....TOOK OFF. HAH.

 

3rd:The Sega handheld (that could play Genesis games on the go) was miles above the Gameboy, yet what happened to it? Market dominance doesn't rely on shiny hardware. There's a reason why most people drive Toyotas and sh*t. Think man THINK.

 

How easy it is to develop for the console, cost of development, market penetration (lol) of the console, and many other factors determine what console will sell more and what most parties will flock to. In the grand scheme of things, hardware capabilities don't factor into it as much as you think they do.

I would presume that with the right marketing the Vita could sell exceedingly well as marketing/advertising weren't done well on PS3, so if Sony gets the Vita out there It should be plain sailing.

E.A.B as much as i like my PS3, The hardware is just about exactly on par, the only difference is that the PS3 has a blu-ray drive, otherwise the hardware while from different makers, have the same specifications.

Xbox is easier to code for, the PS3 was intentionally made more difficult so that it's lifespan could be longer, and developers have the hang of it now.

 

@Lightning. PS3 has been gaining on sales and has been for the last 6 months, probably because of the amount of games now available, free online and blu-ray, Yay! (i don't like M$).

Nintendo 3ds is great, just like all nintendo systems since the beginning. Not too many games for it right now though. Never heard of the playstation vita so if it's any good i guess im missing out. Playing in 3d can be kind of hard on the eyes i find though, but still a very cool handheld system.
