Shadowracer Posted September 3, 2011 Share Posted September 3, 2011 Hi, i was trying to install GTA IV in my computer and i had the following error, when the game told me to take out disc 1 and insert disc 2 i did it, but when i inserted disc 2 the installation got stocked, it just freezed right when i clicked on (OK) it just crashed, so when i saw this i closed the installation process and then i saw a GTA IV icon in my desktop, so i clicked it and the game opens normally, then the update tab comes up and i click yes but it wont let my update it, (the LIVE update)... i have already installed this game several times before and this is the first time it happens. Shadowracer Posted September 5, 2011 Author Share Posted September 5, 2011 It's possible your disks have become damaged/dirty, you should inspect the surface for stains/scratches. its kind of weird because GTA IV Disc 1 is totally scratched, since you have to use the disc to play the game... but disc 1 works perfectly, and disc 2 is completely clean and has 0 scratches and it says data3 damaged... mkey82 Posted September 6, 2011 Share Posted September 6, 2011 Try copying both disk contents to some HDD folder and then install the game from there. I don´t understand how some people treat their discs. Keep in mind that the top of a disc is more sensitive for scratches than the bottom. I´ve heard the memory layer is more close to the top of a disc, so scratches on the top may trouble more than even bigger scratches on the bottom side. But about that I´m not sure at all.
