Gade916
Hey guys... I just bought this game on a direct download from gametap... I run a Windows 7 64bit ddr3 i7 processor with 6GB of RAM, on a laptop.. I'm in no means a computer techy or anything I really know close to nothing about comps hahah... But however GTA IV is SEVERELY cutting back on my performance... To the point it is allowing me to only use 59 (yes 59 MBs) of resources... Nothing even really loads on the settings that were provided.... Any help would be MUCH appreciated... This laptop is just a few months old and really should be able to run this game easily... If there's a way to boost (or allow my PC to use RAM on this game) please please please let me know.. *EDIT* My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M Thanks!! Exxon
With a GT 525M, it isn't so surprising. Sorry But what patch do you use? Do you use commandline? Any mods installed? Edited September 3, 2011 by Exxon
OverTheBelow
First off, the only problem here is that GTA doesn't see your Nvidia card, it's defaulting to the weak onboard GPU. Easily fixed, just go into the Nvidia control panel and make a profile for LaunchGTAIV.exe in the game directory: As a side note, you could overclock that GT 525m using MSIAfterburner and gain a good 15-20fps doing so if it is cool enough, and it will be equivalent to a GT550m (it is physically the exact same gpu). It isn't that difficult, and its free.
Gade916
Thanks guys, had to end up using the GTA IV Properties, and change the target, I can play this game in max settings... I have 1 more question however... I'm sure you all have played on the SA:MP in the past (or still do.) Well I got the IV:MP... And the same problem that I had with Single Player GTA IV persists in IV:MP (The RAM reading X/59MBs) If you all know how to fix this issue, please let me know.. Thanks again for the replies

Gade916
Yeah, I have it all set to my NVIDIA card... On the single player game under target I had to add "-availablevidmem"... But when I do this for IV:MP nothing changes.. I've been looking online for this fix on google for IVMP and can't find anything... EDIT: What happens is its cutting back on my actual memory being able to be used (Like I said I can run this on max settings, but the issue lies with GTA not detecting the new hardware.)
