Exxon
Hi everyone, As first, sorry for another topic But my problem is as following: Look at my sig, is that right? I know I should've get a higher framerate than this Even if I turn everything down to medium and sliders 0/0/10/0, my rig barely keeps 30 fps. I can't take it any f*cking longer, please help me! OverTheBelow
You're using a graphic mod (iCEnhancer doesnt run above 30fps on many systems..), obviously it's going to run less smooth than it should do. Lowering the detail distance will take a bit of load off your GPU, same with shadow quality down to high. Sombra
2x2GB ram on 32bit? Don't think it not being 64bit would make a difference but either way it would be better. What PSU? Try getting rid of iCEnhancer 1.25. join the 11%
Exxon
iCEnhancer is only used on my GTA IV:SA installation, on my normal one (with Liberty City ofcourse) I only use ENB with an edited sky by me. Shadow filtering and such stuff is on
OverTheBelow
If you mean shadow density, that (even as low as 2) will cause alot of slowdown especially with your CPU. You should also look towards getting a 64bit operating system asap, GTA4 isn't left with much system ram once you've filled up the vram.
Exxon
No I mean this thing over here [sHADOW]FilterQuality=2CharacterShadowMultiplier=1.0CarShadowMultiplier=1.0 Shadow density is also at
OverTheBelow
That is ENB series.. not many PCs run GTA4 well with ENB series.
Exxon
I thought ENB was less intensive than iCEnhancer But vanilla IV looks and it doesn't even get me such a performance boost if I press F12 (=turning off ENB ofcourse)

Just a custom configuration. Try something like EnvMod or VisualIV, or whatever other non-ENB graphics mods there are, since they don't usually have as much of a performance impact. Exxon
I know, but I thought ENB just wouldn't lower the framerate as much as iCEnhancer But without ENB, my rig won't reach 20 fps in times square and most of the times has 25 fps or a bit more somewhere else. The quality is just so freaking much lower if you're used to ENB
freak2121
Pretty sure it's your CPU. I hardly ever break 30 fps (22fps most of the time) on my Q6600, and overclocking ain't a choice with temps of 70c.

Then there's something not right there dude, you shouldn't let your CPU reach that temp man But overclocking ain't a choice here either, this pc is freaking OEM
Wolf68k
CPU is holding you back. I ran GTA4 on a Q8200 and 9800GT with XP Pro and 3GB (reality 4GB) of RAM and lower settings and got a lot more than 30fps. When I say lower settings, I don't mean the lowest, I just mean lower than yours. I also have no idea what you guys are talking about with the ENB or iCEnhancer or anything else like it. I don't/didn't run any kind of game boosters. Now I did try doing this thing here http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...st&p=1059002910 and mostly only noticed that I could play longer before the game starts messing up and I have to quit it but I don't think I saw any real noticeable increase in framerate. Look, stop trying to get the game to play at the highest settings, just adjust the settings to what will help the game perform better. Think about it. Do you really need the water quality to be at it's highest? Sure it looks pretty, if you stand still and look at it that is, but when you're playing a mission you're going to be moving to notice how nice the water looks. Same thing for reflections. Now texture quality, yes that's important but look at your game's difference between low, medium and high to decide how well each look and go with the minimal that works for you. Same idea for shadows, but here again shadows is more about how pretty and realistic the game it, but again while playing you won't notice them that much. Those sliders on the other hand are a lot more important than water, reflections and shadows.
Exxon
It's just that I like IV less with vanilla graphics. ENB is just lovely But the recommended is quad 2.4 GHz and that should play at medium/high settings with good framerate (around 30 or higher I gues) and my rig has a hard time reaching that
Wolf68k
Minimum specs are the lowest you should be running for your PC and have a playable experience, not necessarily meaning 30fps more like 15-20fps, which usually also mean using the lowest settings. Recommended specs are what they suggest for your PC to be able to play at 30fps but you're playing at low settings with maybe some being medium. Exxon
If they had to give requirements for playing maxed out, I seriously wonder what thet would say But look at my sig, let's keep it like this
Garfield 2
No. I had a better CPU, a worse graphics card and it ran at around 19 FPS on the same settings. Get a better CPU.

Pat
It's just that I like IV less with vanilla graphics.ENB is just lovely Then you either have to upgrade or compromise. As long as you continue on your current system, it's going to either be graphics or performance; you can't have your cake and eat it too. ENB isn't really intended for consistent playing anyway, it's mostly there for screenshots and such. I've tried running it before and I struggled to keep it above 30FPS. If you want ENB, then it'll cost you a new motherboard and new CPU and new RAM. Why? *No point to get LGA 775 CPUs these days *New boards need DDR3 RAM *A new CPU that is worth upgrading to (i5 Sandy Bridge or Bulldozer) requires a new board Seeing your case is as cramped as hell a new case would probably do it as well. Basically, you would need a new computer but you have the PSU, HDD, DVD Burner and Graphics card taken care of already.

I'm not going to do that! Besides, my FSB is already 1333 MHz so I gues it's not effective for me. But, whenever my HDD dies (because of this) my father ain't gonna let it repair, but we're going to buy a real pc. So no OEM, but freakin' i5-2500k and this videocard But I've got the feeling, that this HDD doesn't 'want' to die, it's making the noise for almost 4 months now and it has temps of 48C, but it's still working fine
OverTheBelow
Just put a few magnets on the harddrive if you're that desperate for it to die.
Exxon
Just put a few magnets on the harddrive if you're that desperate for it to die. Hahaha At one side, I really really don't want it to die. I have about 16 games now, and, besides GTA IV, most games are (almost) maxed out at atleast 35 fps. There's just so much things on it that I don't like to download again. At the other side, I do want a new one. No more checking how the HDD sounds this time, no more overheating issues, no more blah blah blah. I just want to get this over with And, damn. I only now see how badly I'm whining over here
