DesertEagleSA
I downloaded the game off of Direct2Drive and i wanted to mod it, so I made a second copy of the game folder and labeled it "modded SA" Then, I got a No CD 1.0 downgrade patch and I was able to install a few cars with SAMI. When I pressed the escape button to pause the game for a second, it froze and I had to shut the game down with task manager, and it said "gta exe not stopped working" or it even froze in-game when I was playing.....is there anything i'm doing wrong? Im going to have another go at it to see what I can do, but I'd like to see some input...thanks!
Kweckzilber
Delete the "modded SA" and duplicate the original folder again. Try installing the mods manually without using SAMI. AFAIK, SAMI can cause some problems with installation if you don't have the correct versions of its dependencies (.NET and VC redist, I think). Is there a link or thread where it shows how to install vehicles manually? I looked around here and couldn't come up with anything...guess i looked in the wrong place? Swoorup
Its been a long time, I have not modded SA. Buts it is just a matter of finding which img it modifies
Kweckzilber
Here: Download IMGTool. See Readme file that comes with the mod; if there isn't a readme, skip to next step. Find out which archive (.img file) is to be edited. Mostly vehicle model/texture mods go to gta3.img, player model/texture go to player.img. Back up the archive and then open the archive in IMGTool. Find the file the mod replaces (eg: jester.dff and jester.txd for a Jester replacement mod). Right click the file in the archive, click Replace, and replace with the respective file that comes with the mod. Repeat for all modification files. Go to Tools > Rebuild Archive. Wait till it finishes. Close IMGTool and Run GTA: San Andreas.
TheNathanNS
Replace your modded gta3.img with your unmodded one. The reason the game may crash during gameplay is because of a corrupt installed mod, useally crashes just as the model is loaded.
