TheNathanNS
I have searched Google for ages looking for a solution to this, but no luck. About a month ago I never had this problem, but a virus screwed my PC up so I had to reinstall everything. Before the virus invasion I could record GTA SA with great audio quality, but since reinstalling my PC Fraps will no longer record sound if it is on the "Audio Input: Realtek HD Input" I have edited all my sound settings and its like I'm not recording any sound at all. Any help? I really wanna make some GTA SA videos with sound NOT featuring my voice.
OverTheBelow
Control panel -> type 'Sound' at top right & open the first result -> open the recording tab and enable Stereo Mix. If it isn't there to enable, right click show disabled devices and it should show itself. Otherwise if it still isnt there, you need to install the Realtek sound drivers. TheNathanNS
Everytime I right clicked all it said was "what's this?" and here it won't let me edit the volumes. I'm also on Windows XP.
OverTheBelow
Ah, I assumed you were on Windows 7. I can't help you with XP, it's been years since I used that.
TheNathanNS
Thanks anyway. Also I found the master volume. What should I change?
Kweckzilber
Go to the 'Options' menu of the 'Master Volume' window. Select 'Properties'. Select the recording device from the drop down menu and select the 'Recording' radio button. Click 'OK'. Now max the levels. Try recording again. TheNathanNS
No sound, but in a video I can hear sound like something is whirring. The video I recorded was just me shooting a gun in a safehouse.
Stinky12
Your default device isn't correct, it should say "Realtek HD Audio Output" not "Real... 2nd output". Download the latest drivers from www.realtek.com.tw Update the drivers and restart. Then unplug your speakers and plug it back in, when Realtek control panel pops up, select front speakers. Try again. "Audio Input: Realtek HD Input" is for FRAPS to record from the mic, not from the game. In Fraps, disable that option. Wolf68k
With RealTek audio forget the Windows Volume control panel. You should have the RealTek audio control panel installed when the drivers got installed, use that. In there click on Mixer I should look kind of like this, but not exact....ignore where it says LineIn/MicIn your's might read as RealTek HD Audio Input Pay attention to the lower half. Make sure the volume knob is all the way up. Where it says Stereo Mix if you're has an X in like this one does then click on it to undo that. However I would suggest putting an X on the Mic unless you want to end up recording your voice as well, but it also means you won't be able to use the mic for anything while it's X'ed. @Stinky The RealTek HD Audio 2nd Output is normal for some cards But I do agree on getting the latest drivers. TheNathanNS
OK done that... good news is I can hear sound!!! Bad news is it is very VERY faint. I made CJ shoot a gun in safehouse and I could barely hear the sound it makes. Making progress... slowly. Something is making it quiet but I don't know what it is! Wolf68k
Is it low in-game or just the video? Make sure both of those volume knobs are turned all the way up.
