NationStates is a nation simulation game. You create your own country, fashioned after your own ideals, and care for its people. Either that or you deliberately torture them. It's really up to you.

Click on the Create a Nation link and follow it from there. You'll be asked to choose a name for your nation, a motto, a national animal, and a currency. Then you answer a short questionnaire about your politics. This will determine what sort of nation you end up with: authoritarian or permissive... left-wing or right-wing... compassionate or psychotic... you get the idea. Once your Nation is created join the GTAForums Region.

 

Once a day, you'll be faced with an issue, and need to make a decision as to what to do about it. This determines how your nation evolves.

 

The World Assembly is the world's governing body. It's your chance to mold the world to your vision, by voting for resolutions you like and scuttling the rest. However, it's a double-edged sword, because your nation will be affected by any resolutions that pass. (Unfortunately you can't obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest, like real nations.) In other words, it's a hot-bed of political intrigue and double-dealing.

 

Your nation can join the WA, but it's not compulsory. If you remain outside, you're unaffected by its decisions. If you're ready to mix it up in international politics, though, the WA is for you.

 

There are two main benefits to WA membership: you can vote on resolutions, and you can endorse other nations in your region, thereby electing a Regional Delegate.

The average income tax rate is 41%, but much higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Soda Sales industry, followed by Cheese Exports and Arms Manufacturing.

 

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. The United Northwestern Territories's national animal is the Moose, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Sea-Bill.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, pro-business individuals is mainly concerned with Commerce, although Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality are on the agenda. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Basket Weaving, and Cheese Exports industries.

 

Crime is a major problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Chuckovia's national animal is the aardvark, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollah.

 

Also, there seems to be a couple new features since I last played (more in depth info on your country being one of them) but I really liked this theme thing, the conservative one turning my "capitalist paradise" into a nation of "decent hardworking self-starters" bahahah
