Slamman Posted August 17, 2011 Share Posted August 17, 2011 Used to be the idea of a Flash Mob was some planned event in public sprang out of just a group of people milling about and then an orchestrated event comes to life, to break from the monotony of every day life, now it's mostly done for amusement and working in concert with Social Media of the modern age, but now a disturbing new trend is showing, and I offer this thread for further comment, http://www.christianpost.com/news/flash-mo...y-county-54013/ I'd worry about this "Mob Rules" becoming common place actually! From where I'm from, it was definitely a big problem in Chicago's subway stations. It's not much of a problem now with added security in the stations, but it still got people worried. We are a bit known for the kid flash mob thing in this city. Even our mayor has been on the world news the past few weeks because of it. It is just bad kids being assholes, happy to be able to use newer technology to wreak havoc. I'd almost say the tough economic times keeps the numbers down. Struggling parents won't be able to provide their adolescent child(or children) with the [cellphone] tool used in coordinating a flash mob. Nothing to do with skin color. The reason why you see that the jail population, murderers, rapists, and arsonists are mostly black is because us white people left them in poverty after the civil war. So really, it's our fault. This is why it technically doesn't have to do with race, but it has to do with poverty (most people raised in poverty live in bad conditions, but not always). My thinking is that that's only partly true, Cell phones are VERY common place, where the poorer classes may have cell phones or at least Social Media and lack other luxuries. It doesn't take much to pull together something like this, but it's showing a severe lack of parental knowledge about one's kids! Should say, that's the NEGATIVE ones, not the other type of Flash Mob. It's really only a current trend that I'm aware of.
