oquabili
Okay, so I bought a pc a year ago and I really wanna play this game, but I can't run it. Here are my specs: Intel Core Duo 2.93GHz Intel 4500HD Graphics Chipset 4 GB RAM Windows 7 Its pretty apparent that the video card is holding me back, so I went to look for video cards. Here's the catch, my computer is a slim tower and I can't spend over 45-50$ All the low profile video cards I saw were like 64-bit, and I don't know if that is any good. So could anyone recommend some video cards, or even better, tell me the specifics that a video card needs to run gta iv (like memory interface, memory, clock, etc)? Thanks, and I don't really care for HD gaming, just good performance, even at minimum graphics .
YankeesPwnMets
The best two cards that are low profile that I have seen are: Radeon 6570 (The 6670 isn't low profile) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121441 GT 430: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121397

I'm sorry to say, I don't think there is a video card under 50 today that will run GTA IV nicely.
diablo440
You're lucky to find a used card for 50-80..one that isn't 64bit or before unified shaders.
oquabili
Can a video card run GTA IV with 64-bit? or does it have to be 128-bit? and which of these are better? diablo440
Intel and S3 chips run GTA IV/EFLC, as do most IGPs like old nforce and ATI HD NB graphics. Running and acceptable-performance are entirely different things. I as well as a few others here have also proven it doesn't take high power hardware to get good frames and even beat console performance on PC. The Big Secret:128bit or better, PCIe x16(2.0 does matter), Good amount of SPs and TMU(90+:5+:4+), dual core or better CPU(I've seen good frame on a OC single core too), use OC to tune FPS. ***Less than 500 software threads before launching in task manager>performance***. Don't be a moron and call it crap cause you can't play at high settings.. Edited August 18, 2011 by diablo440

Don't be a moron and call it crap cause you can't play at high settings.. our standard starting point is at the games recommended MINIMUM specs. if you got it running on lesser CRAP hardware Touche to you, lets give you a medal or a pound of flesh, whichever you prefer. but most here are willing to buy a little hardware or what have you, thats why they come here.... not to find a solution to get decent frame rate at crap settings. and i was looking at your specs, you run at that resolution with everything all maxed and get 40+ on that? you are a liar.... look at my specs, they are 10x yours and this games poor coding doesnt always maintain 60 fps on my severely overkill system. Telling people to go buy stuff is a convenient cop-out for people with no real technical working knowledge to answer with on tech forums. Actually learning where bottlenecks are and doing stuff clueless morons can't is more rewarding and practical from a financial and intelligence stand-point. Sorry if that effects your accepted-through-defeat bottom line kid.. Also my advice is so bad that all the people who have ever used it got working results.. SlaveZer0
just stop it, at this point we are both trolling. though in my own defense i will say i do have several degrees in computers and programming, and when my company was a start up i built systems and servers and installed them myself. amd i rich? not super, i share too much profit with employtees.... am i comfortable? very. but i did not come back here to fight. and as far as things to recommend for this game, i am not always right, as far as my general computer and advance hardware knowledge, i am rarely wrong. but that doesnt make me better than anyone.
