GEEZYJ
quite genius if you think about it... would be even better if they used 3 different locations like the original

mantis117
I don't see them calling it the same as the first one. There's nothing stopping them from calling it "Grand Theft Auto". Reboots have been named after the original like Mortal Kombat, Ssx and others. It could simply just be called "GTA"

T.Rez
That would just be annoying. Nothing wrong with calling it GTA: (number) or GTA: (city or state name)

MyDog
The name isn't important, but I don't see why they would just name it GTA.

Yes, but I'm thinking of a reboot in a sense of locations. what if V has 3 or 4 different locations jammed into one game? say Chicago, Houston, and Detroit? (exchange these cities w/ whatever you prefer...) and then the GTA after V goes on to be a more in depth version of Chicago, and the GTA after that is a more in depth version of Houston, etc.
CheesyJ
They won't use that name. Remember, the first game was simply 'Grand Theft Auto'. You can't go and reuse the same name again.
silentsharklol
I think Grand Theft Auto Advance was actually called just Grand Theft Auto, and the "Advance" in the name just came from the fact that it was on a GBA. I may be wrong though.
blow-job
Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat, Twisted Metal: these are just some recent examples of this off the top of my head. Personally I've become a cynic when it comes to the GTA series and its originality. I hate this idea, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit and if it were the case it would confirm my suspicions about Rockstar and their GTA series – they are running out of ideas. Azzerwazzer
... ^ Yeeeaahh.. That's a pretty good example of why it's a bad idea ^ It's like the last released final destination film titled "The Final Destination" (fourth in the series) and the one coming out now is "Final Destination 5" ... I hate that sh*t

R* are not running out of ideas. When you think of how much they have not done, that is ridiculous. They have not yet left America, with the exception of the London games. There are so many places out there that they could visit. That's not only outside of America, but inside it as well. Think of major cities such as Chicago, Washington, New Orleans and Detroit. They hold so much potential for a great GTA experience. How exactly would a different name change this anyway? At the end of the day, the content within the game is what matters most. You can. like someone said above the new SSX game is like the 5th or 6th in the series, and it's simply titled SSX (like the first one). Same goes for the new Mortal Kombat game, the new Tomb Raider reboot, Turok, etc.

In fact, I think IV was the reboot, was it not? So I don't think they need to reboot it twice, unless it's like a computer and has a virus or something. Slamman
Like the Gaming Community did with regard to swinging demand from the Playstation 3 controller banana originally planned back to the conventional PS style, I think the "V" name will stick, Roman Numerals kick ass, and even more so with the GTA logo style lettering typeset-face So, GTA FIVE is it, man, it's IT!! I felt a bit uninspired and left deflated with IV and its DLC. Maybe I'm suffering franchise fatigue. All I can see them doing is a re-imagined and scaled-up single city we have previously visited, one that they did really well in the first place, with decent graphics with a touch more realism. That would be fine for most people but this would be most likely the first time I won't buy a new GTA game. You know what though, I really hope you are right, and the next one is the greatest and most thrilling of them all. Fingers crossed for what we'll be seeing in the coming months, eh? Even if they do decide to repeat a city, the game would still be unique and thrilling. Times and graphics have changed, so a repeat of Vice City or San Andreas would still make the game very different.

Slamman
Maybe, but not me. I just think Liberty City is not good enough, although if I were in charge, I'd offer MORE DLC for Liberty City gaming, and I'd offer more PS2/Xbox1 gaming using that engine for San Andreas, because in it's final run, it was making those platforms SHINE, and there's no reason another game and another couldn't have sprung forth and been just as much profit for Rockstar Games. What happened was the new hardware XB360 and PS3 came out in short order, and they had to get to work on how to transition GTA, sadly SA was the last of that iteration
