R* North working on next-gen games?

Next gen? they need to slow the fuk down

It's been over half a decade.......

Time tables for recent gen consoles are as follows:

PS2 1999/2000 - 2006

PS3 2006/2007- ???

XBOX 2001 -2005

XBOX 360 2005 - ???

It took only four years for the XBOX to be replaced by the 360, and It took 6 years untill the PS3 came out as the succesor to the PS2.

With a ten year Console plan in place and with 6 to 7 years passing already it is not that far fetched to think of a GTA in 2014- 2015 on the Next Gen Xbox and Playstation.

This is the truth. This November will mark the 360's 7th anniversary and the PS3's 6th. Time for new consoles very, very soon.

But I still think that the next GTA will be on current-gen. If they're only doing one GTA per cycle then they're foolish financially.

In the buisness world they have released FOUR GTA's within a two year time period and with there other games selling like they print money (Case in point RDR 12 million copies at 50 - 30 bucks a pop is a LOT of cash, R* are in no need what so ever of anysort of cash cow at the moment. To add to there profit Microsoft payed something along the lines of THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS, just to get LA Noire to appear on the 360.

Yep they won't be releasing a GTA any time soon.

They haven't released four GTAs in a two year period. An expansion pack with a dozen or so missions isn't a full GTA game. A portable DS game doesn't qualify as a full console GTA either. We've gotten ONE GTA game this generation. ONE.

We'll have a new GTA next year. Bank on it.

Ok let me explain this so a Child can understand it. When a company releases a game whether it be DLC or on a smaller handheld console, It still counts as guess what A f*ckING GAME. Just because they were not as big in terms of content (Well at least the DLC ) It did not and has not taken away from the games sales. The DLC alone made tens of Millions of Dollars. Announcing a GTA game would OVERSHADOW(which in idiot talk means TAKE AWAY ALL ATTENTION) MAX PAYNE 3, AGENT, LA NOIRE DLC and the last bit of RDR DLC. Shut your f*cking mouth with the stupid there will be another one down the pipeline.

They have to two huge games this year Right? And by the way the Fiscal year wont change based on announcement. Money is based on Sales not views of a trailer unfortunatly.

The likely hood of them releasing a game IN THE f*ckING MIDDLE of when all there Damn products come into play would be the stupidist marketing discision ever. And announcement doesn't mean a release or even a release date. So if they announce it 2012 they might not release it untill 2014.

I expect a year maybe a year and a half of advertising ect for the game. And what you consider a GTA game that qualifies as a proper game does not matter. To R* CTW TBOGT TLAD and IV where all games in the GTA series hell they released the f*cking episodes on a DISC and what was the headline. "Two complete games in one". Stop Being fools 2013 is where all content currently planned is likely to end depending on sales and anything with a R* Logo sells so yep. Don't expect a GTA for at least Two Years You can BANK ON IT.

Lightning Strike, you should go troll elsewhere.

Everybody here knows that even R* games doesn't consider DLC a FULL GAME. They've simply milked GTA IV for all they could get by releasing DLC and then re-releasing it in different SKUs. Same with Chinatown Wars. Originally a DS game that's been ported repeatedly. Each one doesn't count as a full game. And a portable DS game doesn't quite cut it as a full console GTA game, does it? No, it doesn't.

So take your insults and childish BS elsewhere.

Take 2 Interactive has forecasted $2 a share for fiscal 2013. No chance that that doesn't include a Grand Theft Auto game. They can't get there without one. They certainly aren't going to get there on Bioshock Infinite and Borderlands 2 when they got nowhere near there with Red Dead Redemption and NBA 2k!!! Fiscal 2013 is April 12 to March 13. The game will be released in that fiscal year and will have to be out long enough to generate the kinds of revenues that get them to their forecast. Releasing it on next-gen systems would mean a release to a small install base. Releasing it on current-gen systems means that they can get it to an install base that's rather large. They're not going to wait.

Clear enough for a child to understand? Maybe just a troll?

Downloadable Content. It is additional content that you can download (and buy). I don't know what the dictionary of Chuck Norris states, but in English this is not the definition of a game.

It's also saddening to see that what I assume is a fully grown man and not a "child" cannot express himself without resorting to such posts as the one you just made.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I especially like your point about the fact that if R* waits and releases it with a new console, they will not get near the sales they would right now, because not everyone goes to the stores at midnight to buy a new console!

Besides, LA Noire DLC is DONE.

RDR DLC is DONE (besides some little mulitplayer add-on).

I don't know what "two huge games" he was referring to this year. There was one big game: LA Noire, but it wasn't huge. LAN sold like 899,000 units on day 1, compared to GTA IV selling 3.6 million. "Bank on it" that LA Noire is not huge and there is no other game so far for this year.

Snake Without a Tongue

Just because it's never too early to develop for next-gen consoles doesn't mean this gen is over. Assuming next-gen really means NEXT-gen. I think Max Payne and the next GTA will come to this gen. Unless new consoles come out in the next year (which they won't) that's too long a dry spell.

Ok first of and i am getting really f*cking tired of seeing this. LA Noire didn't sell that f*cking well. Hmm well does that mean that it didn't sell well or it just didn't sell as well as a GTA game? R* are branching off into different paths to see what works and what doesn't. Yet R* was not the sole creator of LA Noire. It was simply the publisher while Team Bondi are the makers of the game. While MP3 and Agent are Developed soley by R* which would probably aid them in the sales. Add to that these games are probably more action orintated that then LA Noire. and well you see the target audience for the games increase tenfold.

Now onto that DLC matter. Did R* not make money from such DLC's when they where sold seprately? What about when they weren't downloadable and where put together to create EFLC in a physical form sold as a standalone package with the tagline: TWO COMPLETE and heres the really important part GAMES IN ONE. Does this not count as a game to you? Something that is being sold as a complete stand alone package in a store in a physical form with it's own manual and case and Disc. Oh wait i think it does.

Now this was not the only the time the so called DLC was released outside of DLC. It was also released by R* in something called GTA IV complete Edition. Once again sold as a standalone product not downloadable in anyway. Hmmm. Then there is CTW. Something which was Made for the D.S.

Wait let me think..Oh wait yeah i saw an idiotic post a while ago, Let me go fetch it

And a portable DS game doesn't quite cut it as a full console GTA game, does it? No, it doesn't.

Now let's bring up the post which this one seems to be refering to shall we kids?

In the buisness world they have released FOUR GTA's within a two year time period

Note how in my post I never mentioned the word CONSOLE. Yet he also mentions that it has been ported and note this word very carefully children

that's been ported repeatedl
It was "Ported" Once to the PSP and this "Port" Included Bonus missions a pretty substantial graphics overhaul and i'm pretty sure Exlcusive items and weapons with an upgraded targeting system . Yeah I'm totaly sure that no effort was put in to this at all and that it was totally a worthless port that didn't earn much cash at all.

It was also Ported to the IPAD which also had exclusive features Such as an in game exclusive raido not held by any other of the games counter parts on other systems.

So theres three releases of a GTA During a 14 month span. However i can forgive people for not really counting CTW for it being minor compared to a Large ammount of GTA games however CTW did sell quite well for a game and was given immensely high praise for taking GTA into a brave new territory. So in closing R* does infact count EFLC and CTW as games despite your views and opinions on them.

LA Noire sales well ...

On the day of the game's US release, shares in Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games' parent company, closed up 7.75% on the day; a three-year high for the company. The rise was attributed to the positive reviews that L.A. Noire had been receiving.[87]

According to NPD Group, L.A. Noire was the best-selling game in the United States in May 2011,[88] at 899,000 copies across the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[89] Through a comparable time period, Red Dead Redemption had sold 1.5 million, which means L.A. Noire tracked behind Red Dead Redemption by about 40%,[78] and it is believed that L.A. Noire will not reach Red Dead Redemption sales, but will still sell "handsomely".[90]

L.A. Noire went straight to top of the UK games chart and became the fastest selling new IP ever in the UK.[91] It sold 58% copies on Xbox 360, as opposed to 42% on Playstation 3.[92] It stayed top of the UK game chart for three weeks.[93]

In Australia, the stores that had the game for sale reported that it was going out of stock after a week.[94]

L.A. Noire debuted in Japan for the week of 4–10 July and sold a combined 71,057 units on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The Playstation 3 version topped the chart, with 58,436 units sold, and the Xbox 360 version moved 12,621 units.[95][96]

Sterne Agee analyst, Arvind Bhatia, is optimistic that L.A. Noire has 'potential' for 4 million sales.[97] To date L.A. Noire has shipped 4 million copies to retailers.

: Source wikipedia. Yeah LA Noire totally didn't sell well. I mean four MILLION copies totally don't matter to anyone. I mean thats only like TWO HUNDRED MILLION $. Yeah that was a total waist of cash.

Also why would R* Screw over there current franchises just to release GTA V. They wouldn't do that and even GTA can't hit the numbers T2 are projecting by it's self now can it?

It could be plausible due to the next gen seeming to come out soon. The Wii U to start, even though it probably won't get GTA again. And the rumor that PS4 is coming out next year could actually be true. Today Sony just lowered the price of PS3s by $50. If the PS4 does come out next year, all that's left is xbox. And I don't see them wasting too much time to get a new system out if the PS4 does indeed come out next year. This is all pure speculation though. As far as we know it could be released already somewhere in Iceland.

Other than the new Nintendo, I don't think the next-gen is solidified enough for game developers to do jack squat with it yet.

Sony and Microsoft aren't going to pull the trigger until the economy improves, that's for sure.

Yep they won't be releasing a GTA any time soon.

Your right they don't need a cash cow, and it is quite feasible the game is released on next generation consoles.

But businesses are always striving to make as much money as they can, so they will release another Grand Theft Auto title as soon as they are ready and judging by the reported T2 profits for the 2013 fiscal year, which is somewhere between 2012 and 2014 (i cant recall exact dates at this time), factor in the resumes, and i am assuming they added GTA V to their resumes After they finished work with rockstar, we have a pretty good case to say that GTA V will be out i the next 1-2 years and i don't see next gen consoles out by that time.

It makes more sense to release a game on consoles that have a 100million strong sales, rather than a new consoles that doesn't have a quarter of that until a few years after release.

It seems that Gaming in future will only be a luxury item , if you have to pay 50-100m dollars to make a game thers something very very wrong with it . I loved back in 04-06 i could go to store see hundreads of ps2 games for 5-10$ i saw games never before played and i could easy buy them , now i go to store and see that avrg cost of a game is 80$ sad.gif well atleast in my country they aint cheap .

Grand Theft Auto is Rockstar's premier franchise. Hell it's T2's premier franchise. There is NO CHANCE that they are only going to go with one main game during this generation. And their financial forecast for April 2012-March 2013 confirms this. No amount of swearing or childish insults will change that fact.

This "Debate" is over, you lost i've already stated enough facts to prove that we wont have one till 2014. You know that your wrong but you have this blind hope that V will be released and you repeatedly use the same line.

"But...But than can't they NEED TWO THEY WOULDN'T!!"

there aim is to earn as much cash as possible right. So why not milk the current franchises and then release V to earn the most ammount of cash possible. And no ammount of "TAKE TWO NEED IT CAUSE ER WELL THEY DO CAUSE DEY SAID DEY WUS GONNA EARN DAT $2 THINGYMAJIG" is going to change.

Ignore facts if you want. T2 has stated that they forecast $2 a share fior fiscal 2013. Everybody with a brain knows that they wouldn't forecast that without a GTA game because they can't get there without one. Hell, it's not guaranteed that they will even with one.

It's you who have been proven wrong. So please, just take your insults and childish behaviour and go away.

So dose 2$ per share mean it's coming out IN 2012 or is it later?

They have forecasted $2 a share for the fiscal year running April 2012 to March 2013.

Not a chance in hell that they can achieve that without a GTA game. They certainly aren't going to get there with Bioshock, Borderlands and NBA 2k, when they couldn't get even a quarter of the way there with Red Dead Redemption or LA Noire. The last time they got to $2 a share was the year GTA IV was released.

But at what point they are planning for release, who knows? But their plan is clearly to have a release during the first 3 quarters of that fiscal year. So somewhere between April and October.
