Gigahertz2010
I just built a new computer, in the hopes that I could finally play with enb mod: Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 motherboard i5 2500K @ 4ghz(temp clock) 8GB DDR3 1600 @ 1333mhz HD 5850 1GB Windows 7 64-bit Using the mod icenhancer 1.25 and mostly auto configured settings, inside a building my fps don't even hit 40, driving during the day it's around 20 fps, and at night in the rain I get 30 plus. This is roughly 10 fps higher than my Q6600 @ 3.4ghz, not exactly a high gain. Does this performance seem right?
Exxon
What are your graphics settings? I've got the feeling that the sliders are pretty high, reduce them to 50 or less. You almost can't even see the difference between 50 and 100.

Oh believe me, changing texture quality from high to low seriously makes a difference: I've got iCEnhancer too and I even use the San Andreas map mod But you can tweak the iceconfig.txt file: Go to [sHADOWS] and change filterquality from 0 to 2, if it isn't already. That should give you a nice boost. Also, AA is eating CPU power.

The graphics settings still impact the performance considerably even when using iCEnhancer - especially the sliders.

NaidRaida
If GTA doesn´t like your hardware, you are simply f*cked. Generally I recommend NVidia cards for this game. If you changed the CPU without any or less frame increase, then your card will be the bottleneck I think. Try to decrease View Distance and detail distance or hw this sh*t is called. View distance above 50 makes no sense, only for picture taking. Same with the details. Try to disable or lower the night shadow value. The other options should be run on very high or max. YankeesPwnMets
Why can't you live without VSync? It doesn't make the game look better or worse, unless your FPS are too high. About the shadows, Very high shadows CANNOT be handled by 1GB cards. Personally, I don't see a difference between high and very high Lowering view distance helps because the graphics card won't have to render anything that you could barely see. Gigahertz2010
I don't want my screen to tear. I could handle the game looking worse, but not tearing. Since I changed the settings I'm getting better frames but stuttering is more obvious. Edited August 18, 2011 by Gigahertz2010
YankeesPwnMets
If you have a 60Hz + monitor, then tearing is pretty unlikely in IV. With your mods, reaching 60FPS at any decent resolution would be close to impossible

Gigahertz2010
I recently upgraded to 1.0.7.0, I think it might have ran choppier than patch 1.0.4.0. Is it possible if I take my 5850 out and put my old 8800GT in, the game would run smoother?

Gigahertz2010
I've modded my game more and I have some questions. Major mods: Icenhancer 1.25 (w/ 1.3 timecycle) NYPD, FDNY vehicles w/ TrafficLoad More Liberty v3 New textures I'm now trying to achieve around 30 fps, My densities are 25, 50, 75, 0 now. The higher I raise my stats the lower the frames, BUT when I lower my stats I get more stutter! Where should they be? Can any commandlines help me with this? Also, when I tried to add an entire car pack, my card couldn't draw fast enough. Is that really the limit of my 5850?

You're telling me it's the fault of all my monitors? Yeah, I am. Your monitor's low refresh rate causes tearing. If you tear at 30FPS, then your monitor has a insanely low refresh rate
