Roflcopterz
Hey guys, I just downloaded GTA SA for nostalgia's sake, but it won't install on my desktop. Whenever I try installing, I receive the following error code after selecting the language: Error Code: -5011 : 0x8000ffff Error Information: >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (551) PAPP:Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PVENDOR:Rockstar Games (http://www.rockstargames.com/) PGUID:D417C96A-FCC7-4590-A1BB-FAF73F5BC98E $10.50.0.125 @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 0.0 I have tried changing installshield in common files to installshieldOLD, but that didn't work. The install file does not have a compatibility tab so I can't change it to xp. I'm using Daemon Tools Lite to mount the image to install and I know the file works because I have installed it on my Windows 7 laptop (installing on desktop for brother who also wants to play). Anyone have any suggestions or has Vista just screwed me again?
lil weasel
Downloading from where? You should BING/GOOGLe the individual error codes. Edited August 15, 2011 by lil weasel
Roflcopterz
Tried googling the errors. Still not really sure what they mean. Together, I didn't really find anything, but it seems like 0x8000fff is basically a complete failure error. @lil weasel, I got the game from a torrent, PirateBay to be exact. Don't have the original disc anymore. Also, downloaded another with the game installation files unpacked and have tried using compatibility mode with the setup.exe application. No luck. I think the problem lies in the fact that its a Vista os. Like I said earlier, it worked fine on Win 7... Has anyone else had this issue or can think of a different fix? Or can explain these error codes a bit better? I'm gonna try looking up more info.
DarrinPA
I think the problem lies in the fact that its a Vista os. No, the problem is that you downloaded a game illegally, this site doesn't help pirates. Just buy the game. Most the time you can find it for $5-$12 used.
