johnny_zoo
I volunteer at the British Heart Foundation, a charity shop that sells clothes, I dont get paid and Ive been there for 4 months so Im clearly and idiot. But working there was one of the best decisions Ive made in my life so far. Before BHF I had really bad social anxiety and no self esteem but after 4 months Ive really come out of my shell and more confident now than before. Ive met some really cool people and get to hang out with some pretty girls who work there. Im not fully there yet but sometimes I look back at how I was two years ago in uni and I cant help but wonder how shy and introverted I was and how confident I am now. Almost borderline arrogant. In fact Im gonna go into work naked tomrrow just because. But yeah that where I work and man its a lot of fun.
Straznicy
Working in a petrol station and as a gardener atm. Gonna dingy one of them when I go back to university next month, probably the gardening one. Working outdoors in the morning during a Scottish winter doesn't seem all that appealing. Tsar_Smirnoff
I'm currently a student enrolled in university working towards a B.S. in Biochemistry. As for my job, I work at the local supermarket as a "courtesy clerk". Basically, I just bag groceries and bring in the buggies from outside, and occasionally I get sh*thouse duty on the chore list. Next summer though, I'm hoping to get a job out at the plant and doing some actual laboratory work.
Walks.
I build pallets. Before that I cut and stacked wood. 9 across 12 high. 5 layers 2X6 cut into 1X6 4 1x6's at a time. 2-3 stacks and hoour. I think Im the sh*t. about to go farther though since I can pass a piss test and sick of being broke. 11 bucks an hour plus 1-3 dollars extra per hour in incentives aint cuttin it for what I potentially could do. Build pallets but still cut wood when they need my skills. f*cking bruce lee with a handgun muthaf*cka! I want a desk job, involving a pc.
tuff_luv_capo
I'm an inter-franchise condiment vendor and mass-produced beverage retailer, I also am a communications technician and oversee the treasury of a multi-billion dollar corporation on a small scale. I work the drive through at McDonald's But for real I am part of the local union and work for the #6 (I think we're still number 6) freight company in the country. Job is easy and the pay is ridick so I'm not leaving any time soon.
Ryan
I'm a full time student at university. Working towards my Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science. When I'm not in class, I work part time for the department of security at the university. Security for sporting events and patrolling campus on the weekends shutting down parties, dealing with drunks, and any other emergencies that arise. You never know what is going to happen next which makes it interesting and the pay is good. I'm also a professional topic locker on the side too. Damn right you are I don't work at the moment, too young to do so and I have to focus on my studies. However, I'm liking this whole IT idea and plan on exploring further on the future, maybe end up studying it in college. Anyone with experience, Trip or Mr. Mister, what do you do at your jobs? Like I know the basics, but what's it like in an average day on your jobs? I'd rather get personal experiences than just get it off wikipedia. They offered me free IT classes at college aslong as I stay for atleast a year. I don't actually do much computer stuff other than shipping, e-mailing co-workers and browsing reddit. I sometimes go on deployments and I act as extra hands, I plug in computers, thin clients and get basic software running. I know abit more about hardware than software. From what I've seen, IT deals with a lot of problem solving and phoning clients. It's also a pretty promising career, booming actually. They get paid pretty good too Next fall though I am going to college and will learn how to start my own business. I was thinking of starting a import/detailing car shop. marmoo
Looks like I hit a couple of nerves here Sorry guys, dont have to justify myself to you OT asked what people did for a job I gave OT an idea of what area I work in look....you got me justifying..... As the other poster said, if you weren't able to say who you worked for, then you wouldn't be posting. If you could, you'd probably say. I'm very proud of the work I did with the UK government and talk about it as much as I can, within the bounds of what I am actually at liberty to discuss. Posting "oh I work for x but I can't talk about it" just makes you sound like an immature prat. You seem to be assuming much here As the other poster said, if you weren't able to say who you worked for, then you wouldn't be posting As explained earlier, I am not breaking any rules stating that I work for UK Government. I am just not allowed contractually to discuss exactly what I do. No conspiracy theory, no secret motive If you could, you'd probably say I did say I'm very proud of the work I did with the UK government and talk about it as much as I can, within the bounds of what I am actually at liberty to discuss Have I at any point said or implied that I am not proud? Posting "oh I work for x but I can't talk about it" just makes you sound like an immature prat. Pointless and irrelevant statement. *MURDOC*
I'm a general contractor, I work with my dad, he's awesome, we specialize in high-end home theatre set-ups, but also build a fair amount of decks, plus build/refinish/install pretty much anything you can think of. (besides carpets, f*ck that sh*t ) I really enjoy it, even though it's hell on my body. I just love seeing the finished product, and knowing that the family will get a lot of use out of it and enjoy it themselves. I also do a bit of artwork and I build skateboards on the side, but those don't really bring in too much. Still fun though. Point taken Murdoc Apologies No real harm done. Mister Pink
I'm a photographer, semi-professional. As in I get a decent bit of work but can't survive on it, yet. Next step is to start working for someone again, which I think I will be come September as an assistant again in a studio in my city. I've also done some freelance commercial video work. 2 videos we've done are a promo video for a school for their website and a promo video for a politician for his website. I love the work I do. I can be tedious at parts, but what job isn't? I get to travel about, meet lots of exciting people and a lot of the time (the more friends-clients) I can drink on the job (doing photos at club nights) RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)

Sanjeem
Don't yet have a job, still a schoolboy currently doing my GCSE's. It's wierd some jobs arn't even that great or well paid, but from what I've read on here they seem like fun because it's what you like doing. I've always had a sort of "make it big time" idea in my head. However at the end of the day, I just want a job that makes me happy, like owning my own nightclub or somthing. You'll find that once you get employed that even the most tedious jobs become bearable after a few years because you resign yourself to the fact that you're still there after 'x' amount of years and if you continued to focus on the aspects that make you want to chew glass, you'd, well, probably end up chewing glass, and nobody really wants to do that. I always have and always will hate my job. I don't say it very often, because once I leave the restaurant I manage in, I switch off and try to forget about the awful members of the Great British public that I have to deal with on a daily basis. I've been there years; it supplies me with a modest income which has so far allowed me to study to my heart’s content. But when I find the right Doctorate program, I'm going to leave this place employment with one hell of a smile on my face. Torcidas
I work for a major ice manufacturer in North America as a route truck driver (seasonal; I go to university). Couple pictures of my two regular trucks: http://i.imgur.com/EUo7R.jpg http://i.imgur.com/IneZE.jpg The tightest dock I ever had to back up to... (barn doors, downtown Toronto off a tiny residential one way street lined up with cars/traffic (not visible)). http://i.imgur.com/hnNpB.jpg All in all, it can get stressful depending where my route for the day is but it's an enjoyable job for what it is, a seasonal student one. Jake
Paying Job: Kitchen for a Convalescent Center. I know every shift. Cook shifts, prep cook shift, AM/PM dishwasher shift, AM cart person shift, late PM shift, etc, etc. It's okay. A job's a job at this point and I hold it close to me. When not on this job I've got a little paranormal group starting to branch out. So that's a little non profit business action I enjoy. I may further my education when my life settle's down a little more for me. Still readjusting to life lately.
