jhonpayboll
So first, my laptop specs: HP Pavilion dv6 Intel Core i7-720QM processor 1.60GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.80 GHz 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 DIMM) Video Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 230M Video Memory: Aprox 2765MB I'm not an expert but I really thought my laptop would run the game with good fps, the problem is fps are always between 12 to 25, here the last benchmark results: Statistics Average FPS: 16.15 Duration: 37.33 sec CPU Usage: 15% System memory usage: 56% Video memory usage: 19% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 800 x 600 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: Medium Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: High Water Quality: High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x16 Night Shadows: Very High View Distance: 29 Detail Distance: 39 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M Video Driver version: 275.33 Audio Adapter: Speakers and Dual Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz What's wrong? I'm not sure if I should be getting more usage % from my CPU and my memory... the graphics tab in the game show my resource usage around 350/2923MB (in orange). So I thought i should just use higher graphics but the fps went down dramatically. All the drivers are updated, the GTA IV version is 1.0.7.0. What can I do to get better fps? AndrefromEstonia
All the shadows down, maybe medium or even low. Others may stay, maybe lower texture filtering. But the video card is the thing why fps is low.
OverTheBelow
Turn night shadows right off and keep the sliders down at 15 or less. The graphics card isn't that great in your laptop.
diablo440
lower stuff or get a cooling pad to prevent bios voltage stepping on the cpu.. the card has an ok core-config for a mobile nvidia and it's 128bit..
jhonpayboll
will try all that, thanks for the help! P.S. any recommendations for a new gpu? not the best one, but something good and not expensive
YankeesPwnMets
You can't upgrade your GPU on that laptop.
jello193
I've been wonder all around like you before looking for a way to fix it. And i did. First, download patch 1.0.4.0 (stable and modable) http://www.mediafire.com/?i873o81478u4d7t password: haiduong_1011 Note: If you already upgrade to 1.0.7.0, i recommend you downgrade to 1.0.4.0 or reinstall a fresh copy of GTA and install 1.0.4.0 patch. Other wise you can just try modding on 1.0.7.0, i haven't tested anything on this version so i'm not sure it works well. Second, download this txt file that contain all download links and instruction. http://www.mediafire.com/?h2t090vzxmdt074 Third, visit my test video for result. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8WHuETO8Xw My crappy spec: G31 mainboard E7400 2G DDR2 HD 4850 All settings on high FPS always above 30.
