That's awesome!

I like how it's stylized rather than just looking like a straight copy.

Your colors and shading are fantastic!

This doesn't go here. This thread is for hand drawings, not digital drawings.

Here's another picture of Slash from a few years back.

I wanted him to look like the Voodoo god Baron Samedhi.

Pencil, ink, acrylic, glue and crayon on card.

Barefoot Tiger, i like your style. Its basically what i do with digital paintings. I sketch with my wacom tablet and then take new layers to fill it with paint, then add all the detail.

Yes, absolutely. However I use different media to create the layers.

The picture below is brought to life by the use of a combination of technique and media on an ink drawing...

Pencil, pencil crayon, wax crayon, ink, acrylic, pva glue, potassium nitrate, goach on card.

Here's a drawing I did of Bane a few years back. The image consists of Prismacolor markers and pencil.

Hendrix again and a combination of drawing, then painting, then ink drawing.

This is a mixed media piece on canvas that started as a graphite sketch then layered with ink detail and acrylic colour.

Thank you :)

I hope more people will post in this topic, glancing back it looks like I'm showing off which is not my intention at all.

And realistic looking art is not always good art. People often say that they would love to be artistic but 'they cannot draw'. I find it incredibly sad that people hold back their own creativity because of popular misconceptions about what art really is....

My father is an artist, so I got a lot of "It's in your genes...You're lucky" etc.

I tell those people to go f*ck themselves, I've been drawing since I was 3 and practiced constantly to get to where I am, and if they were passionate about it, they could do the same.

Yes, it helped that I grew up in an art-friendly environment and my parents encouraged me to pursue something I loved, but to put it down to some sort of imaginary "inherited talent" makes me want to choke someone.

I definitely get what you mean here mate.

People have this almost insulting way of dealing with people who excel in certain disciplines. Everyone thinks that Einstein was just a genius who got lucky with his brain, but this is nonsense. Einstein was intelligent, certainly, but it took him decades to perfect his seminal contributions to physics. The man worked exceedingly hard to produce the results we take for granted today, and whenever people dismiss the likes of him as "lucky geniuses", it infuriates me. Hell, Ernst Kuemmer's probably the best example--his arithmetic/natural maths was utter sh*t, but with enough graft he proved some fundamental theorems in number theory and algebraic geometry.

I've been practicing my drawing a little and have improved a bit funnily enough, which only adds credence to what you've been saying, MURDOC. I've just been sketching simple stuff to relax. Most of it's just copied from elsewhere so I won't post any of it--it's also nowhere near the quality of anything posted here.

EDIT: I know people who are good at drawing and they often face the "it's in your genes" bullsh*t argument. However, when they draw you can really see how carefully they focus on what they're drawing and how practiced their eyes must be to maintain that. The "natural talent" argument is just thinly-veiled jealousy if you ask me

Never actually liked drawing portraits because it's so unoriginal. I only draw what comes from my imagination.

I made this little sketch of the Aston Martin Vanquish since I was inspired by the recently added Massacro.

Well said my friend.

The way I see it, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

Yea honestly. My father is a good drawing artist too and I got a lot of "You are good in drawing because your father's gene" from people.

That's seriously like saying "well, you're actually dumb, but you're smart because of your father."

My ass. I trained hard and still am to achieve the best in my forte, which is drawing!!!!

Hobby or interest may be descended from genetic, but not skill. Please, people...

I don't draw anymore, but I figured I'd share my best two hand drawings I ever made. Mind you, this was done over 10 years ago, probably before I even went to high school. I am no where near professional, so try not to give too much criticism.

mEbDcsI.jpg

This is one I drew of an eagle, the feathers aren't perfect, but hey, what do you want from a 15 year old?

I1hije5.png

This is one I drew of a TOY dinosaur, and I know I messed up the tail, but the head is perfect IMO.

how do you learn to draw, this is one of the only times I tried to draw an actual person, I did it last year but I gave up because I got bored.

I usually just draw weird stuff because it's quicker, I have hundreds of pages like this -
