mr robville
Hello all, I have been struggling with some very annoying bugs on my GTA IV copy. problems started when the autorun installation box popped up, the only thing i saw were chinese/japanese or whatever symbols and 2 empty buttons. i found on the web that i just had to press the left button, it was a common problem on Windows 7 computers, nothing bad apperantly. after a succesful installation i tried playing the game, and to my surprise the graphics were awfull! anti alias was gone, textures were very rough, and the game seemed to miss a lot of post-effects. it kinda looked like the TC-NY city game but then much worse. and i know the graphics should be eye candy, and i had it set all to the maximum. next problem was some kind of weird stuttering. whenever i pressed a button, the game seemed to hang for 1-5 seconds. and that makes it really unplayable. also mouse sensitivity doesn't seem to take any effect on the main menu. now i have searched on google for the entire day trying to find a solution, and it seems almost everyone who has a Win7 PC has their own personal problems. i tried installing the patches, which gave me more problems (game not starting up for example) i did try some compatibility modes, and those gave me an absurd low FPS. i tried adding memory restriction tags to the game's start up icon, but that took no effect aswell. my videocard's drivers are fully up to date aswell as my windows updates and any other hardware. the official title patch didn't gave me a clue either, it told me that RG social club had to be deleted which is weird in my opinion. my computer specs are: CPU - Intel I7 2.8GHZ Quad core RAM - 8GB HDD - Plenty of GB's left GPU - AMD/ATI Radeon HD5700 series 1GB Windows 7 Home premium DX11 Does anyone know how to fix this? there must be some way to make it work, i tried a zillion possibilities. any help would be greatly appreciated. OverTheBelow
What version of the game do you have? (digitial, steam, retail, pirated, etc)
mr robville
ah yes, sorry, i have the retail version with the "games for windows live" program. i ordered it from play.com
OverTheBelow
Update to patch 7 (if you havent already) and turn down the sliders to around 40 if they aren't already. Rockstar Social Club was pretty much made redundant with the introduction of Patch 7, so it's completely normal if it tells you its being removed. Pressing P will enable/disable the post process blur effect used by default on consoles. Just to be clear, this isn't a laptop you are trying to play on is it? Some people get issues like these with switchable graphics (a feature used to save battery during light use) gaming laptops, and the issues would be easily fixed if that is the case with yours. http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Dynamic-S...us.55204.0.html
mr robville
no it isn't a laptop. ok, i just installed the title update 7 and let it remove social club. but like i had before, when i click on the game's icon, social club comes in front again, and as soon as i press play or play offline, i see the disk icon load for like 5 seconds, then it dissapears and nothing happens. ______EDIT______ ok i found this topic here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=453489 and i downloaded and installed the windows live thing seperately. the game starts up now, and the freezing/stuttering has been dissapeared, also the graphics seemed to be improved. but now one last thing remains, whenever i walk or drive in a car, the game some sort of slows down a bit and speeds up a bit in a loop. like if the car you are driving in accelerates and decelerates over and over. AndrefromEstonia
Hehery...mr robville from Mafia scene? Nice to see you here I'm MafiaEST in there. You have a very weird problem there. I have never had somehting like it. I don't know how legal it is here but i use a no cd crack. I have the original game too. But still, maybe it could help. It replaces some files, maybe the retail version is just a bad copy of the game.
mkey82
Well, your description is a bit strange, what you can try is using memrestrict and disabling the windows event log service.
mr robville
i tried to disable eventlog, but windows won't let me. I'll see what i can do with the memrestrict trick. Well, your description is a bit strange, not sure what you mean with that, if i made an unclear discription it is because i'm not english nor american. Hehery...mr robville from Mafia scene? Nice to see you here Small world isn't it? hehe yes i'm from MS good to see you again!
mkey82
but now one last thing remains, whenever i walk or drive in a car, the game some sort of slows down a bit and speeds up a bit in a loop.like if the car you are driving in accelerates and decelerates over and over. This is what I find as a bit strange description as I have a hard time visualising this problem. I forgot they added some dependencies on event log service in later windows versions -> http://www.blackviper.com/wiki/Windows_Event_Log You will have to stop all the services listed under dependencies, being Message Queuing, Message Queuing Triggers, Net.Msmq Listener Adapter, Task Scheduler, Windows Event Collector. All the changes made here are reversible so there is no fear that something may break. A quick and dirty fix, just to see if this changes anything, is to untick the windows event log service in the services list in msconfig and restart the OS -> http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=474160 Edited August 16, 2011 by mkey82
