Slamman
I am thinking still, I need a better Graphics card, I suspect a 2.0 or more PCI Express card with newer revision specs can work in an older board if it's confirmed? I'm rusty, I have to admit, I bought one new card in some years, a silent passive cooling EAH ATI Radeon, 5450 series, it WAS about $40 to $50. Now what I am wondering about is the best $100 USD card at present, and perhaps update this thread with any new cards releasing in the near future. Can you get GTA and other new multicore games working with that little spent? I'm hoping so. Edited August 14, 2011 by Slamman

OverTheBelow
How about a HD 5670? You could probably scrape a 5770 for $100 somewhere if your power supply can handle it.
Slamman
What memory range spec fall in line with the price setting? (and type)?

A Radeon 6670 is better and can actually do some gaming ...And it's dirt cheap now for it's performance http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102952
OverTheBelow
The two are actually pretty much identical aside from a small difference in clock speeds. They are both equally capable of gaming. Relative performance to a 6670:
yoječ
GTS450 seems to be the best card for ~$100. Or, HD5750/HD6750.
Slamman
It's probably the weakest link even if the board is 2 years old, thereabouts, I've got the 1156 socket, as mentioned, and i3 CPU presently, though I've been thinking if an AMD would or should replace it. I am partial to Intel over all, but AMD is good, sure. I appreciate knowing the PCIe revision, Price ballpark, Memory size and type. They are still trying to sell some sub-standard VRAM around these parts! haha

Relative performance to a 6670: IMG]http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/2653/43382965.png[/img I'm confused how this chart has anything to with a 6670 compared to a 5760, mostly because the 6670 isn't on there at all. The reviews I looked at that actually did compare the 6670 to the 5670 showed the 6670 getting between 5-10+ more fps than the 5670. To add to that the nVidia GTS450, Newegg has one from EVGA that comes it right under $100 (plus includes a $20 rebate, that's an actual check not some BS pre-paid card crap like others do) and it gets around 10fps more than the 6670. YankeesPwnMets
@OP: Does the card have to get it's power from the motherboard? Or does your PSU have PCIE connectors
nixxio
If you don't mind getting a used card; http://cgi.ebay.com/Sapphire-Vapor-X-ATI-R...=item2eb7275f2b assuming your uhh, psu can handle it.
Slamman
My Power Supply Unit is not a powerful monster, I never bought one of those to be honest, I do make sure it's 400 watts or more though. As for that, still seems lower end. I want to add a request for LOW PROFILE PCI Express cards, not just the space hogs, I need to equip some SFF machines and the Intel video there won't cut it

Slamman
Sparkle I bought for my AGP card IIRC, Anyway, It looks that used is a good price, and even though consoles use 512MB, I wonder about just having that for the PC card, I'd certainly start at 512MB but the prices of 100 or more should add a bit more, 700MB range hybrid types? leik oh em jeez!
It is a bit pricey for the older chip it's running. But the extra cost comes with having it all in a low profile form factor. I'm pretty sure it's the highest performing card you can get in that for the standard SFF system that doesn't support full size cards. There are, of course, cheaper options. But again I don't think anything else would match the performance.
Slamman
Small Form Factor, BTW, means a case or card size of only a few inches tall, It could be longer, I've never seen any real long cards made that way versus the tallness factor, however, I just got another AGP computer, and so I think I'll be looking to upgrade so it can handle Digital 720P and 1080i video cap possibilities, at least for capture, it maybe too old, but I got a new video software tool and plan to test it out on several computers
unc13bud
you have i3, which to me means dual core. the low profile and weaker power supply are your two biggest hurdles, so i recommend the gt
