mattymcs
I expected this topic to be about how the riots could affect the storyline of future GTA games - if they do ever set one over here. that is quite possible. But no, it won't affect the way it is presented or marketed IMO.

the nameless
I am sure there will be a Jack Thompson brigade jumping on the bandwagon, but I am pretty sure it will not hinder it's UK release date. Kind of off topic, but in a GTA and riot related coincidence, I don't know if it has been mentioned yet but in Liverpool (where I am from) the worst of the rioting was pretty much isolated to Toxteth and .........Grove Street. I couldn't help but think of San An when the cops got away with murder.
diablo440
GTA makes people not get an education and go on to be bitter losers with no common sense? P.S. at what point will this be blamed on americans? With UK, Russia, and Europe it's not a question of if but when.
sammclean23
Yes the announcement now could upset some people. But just one thing, if somebody goes and stabs a person, should the production of that knife be halted? Okay maybe not the best statement ever, but if a person plays a game to the point that their perception is altered so that they no longer see the difference between reality and a game, then something is wrong mentally. Either they have no perceptions of life or have turned to gaming as a result of something else and have become compulsive. The bottom line, a game does not suck a person in. Addictive, sometimes yes. But with proper moderation, never should lines of coding and 3d graphics cause things such as 'UK Riots' without prior underlying issues. Just my opinion. Yes this is rushed and maybe quite flawed
adam_fozz
Nothing in any game should ever be accused of making somebody take a specific action. So the riots should have no baring whatsoever on the announcement. The problem we have is that we live in a world where, when something goes wrong or somebody does wrong, we allow them to make excuses and try to blame someone or something else. GTA HAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER MAKE SOMEBODY BECOME A CRIMINAL, and even if there was a minute chance that it could make a child go wacko that wouldn't be the games fault, that we be the fault of the parent because its rated 18 for a reason. Lets not fuel this ridiculous blame culture we live in. Adam_Fozz PS. The riots in the UK were caused by the government doing nothing to curb the amount of lazy unemployed people who leech of the taxpayer and then wonder why they cant afford the nice things in life. Now we have a breed of children growing up thinking they have a right to free money off the government instead of going out and getting a job. Take benefits away and spend the money on the police force and this would all go away.
adam_fozz
Well i am a GTA fan i am 17 and i am studying to become a police officer.. does that mean i am a thief Don't do it. You'll be part of the problem not the solution. You can study lots of very interesting laws but when you get on the streets all your bosses will be interested in is how many drivers you can fine...then that will become a number added to the "solved crimes" graph. Do yourself a favour and choose one of the other emergency services...or maybe a nice office job! Adam_Fozz
LuKeltic
GTA is not and never was a problem. Mentally disturbed people who actually let it influence them are the problem.
