Could GTA V Change Gaming History?

Could GTA V change all gaming history into what we've been waiting for i think it can.

GTA III is what invented amazing graphics and 3D gaming.

Red Dead Redemption was really close and L.A. Noire is bringing it closer i think those games are preparing us for GTA V the game that will change all gaming history.

What do you think?

None of those games are truly groundbreaking (MAYBE Rdr). GTA5 will probably just be like a bigger budgeted, longer gta4

How did GTA III invent 3D gaming and groundbreaking graphics.

And none of the games you mentioned were groundbreaking RDR is just a great game and L.A. Noire wasnt groundbreaking the technology it used was.

GTA III was a massive step forward in 3D graphics, and there had never been a game quite like it, it was unique when it came out.

It's just going to take the free roaming game genre to the next level, it definitely won't change gaming history. Or maybe it will...

I don't think LA Noire was a big breakthrough, I think it made people realise that a sandbox game can be more than just a port of GTA.

And in all honesty, I think the big breakthrough was already made around the time of GTA IV. it was the time when gaming went from comic book to movie style.

Comic Book style being chapter based gaming with a very defined objective and Movie style being more of a loose style were these tasks and objectives would present themselves to you.

That is the big change in the gaming industry and I'm not sure what GTA V could do to make itself more unique without losing a lot of fans for changing the style too much.

A breakthrough is when it makes you feel more immersed than anything before, but you can't point to any one feature that causes that. I think San Andreas was a breakthrough beyond GTA III for open-world sandbox games because of its size and variety of gameplay in a relatively realistic, lifelike modern urban and rural, multi-environment world (compared to other-world fantasy or sci-fi I mean). GTA IV took a step back on size and variety to improve the visceral detail and sensation of realism and tried to expand in depth instead of breadth, and I think it succeeded and was able to create unprecedented immersion again. The next breakthrough for me would be a game that can do both at the same time.

Sadly not sad.gif the only time we can legitimately state that is when they make a game where every building is enter-able, each pedestrian has their own life which they live regardless of if you follow them or not and of course the ability to destroy almost anything, but that won't happen for a loooooooooooooong time.

And this is why people are disappointed. You guys set thing up WAY too much, we don't know anything about the Next GTA and you're already hyping it to be a Majoe Breakthrough in Gaming. Stop hyping sh*t and wait to see what it's like first.

I doubt it, i dont see how on this Gen of consoles they can do something which hasnt been done before. The biggest groundbreaking achievement of this Gen is without a doubt Cod4. Before that i had never seen a game as good in terms of gameplay and graphics. III similarly was groundbreakng, sure there was other 3D games and other sandbox games, but everything combined was something that changed gaming history. V will most likely get 10's across the board, but i doubt it will make people freeze and cream their pants, as what im expecting is a better game graphically, with a different story and different activities. Until the next gen comes out, i dont see any other things they could add

Nah GTA III was unique because there wasn't much games out at the time like it, nowadays though there's alot more GTA clones floating about.

Unless GTA V brings... 4D. ph34r.gif

I have high hopes for Grand Theft Auto 5. It hasn't even come out yet but I know it will be the best Grand Theft Auto we've seen yet. Yes- the best.

1. III was the foundation. San Andreas was the best of that foundation.

2. IV was the foundation. GTA5 will be the best of that foundation.

Red Dead Redemption proved that there's more to Euphoria. In fact, I see RDR as our 4th generation Vice City.

This is how I compare III generation to IV. Thus, GTA5 will be one of the best games you've ever seen.

Snake Without a Tongue

It's already changed history. It's officially taking longer to come out than any other GTA.

But nah, there's really nothing truly innovative they could add to it this gen. It will likely raise the bar for scale and substance, but only until the next GTA.

LOL I'm not going to start discussion on that but like allhailkingryan said, U Mad Bra?

On topic though, Magic_Al said it best! I think if those two things combined can come together (variety and diversity similar to that of San Andreas, with the level of detail and attention to that of GTA IV), I think we're going to see a masterpiece. Sort of the definitive Grand Theft Auto title.

Those of us who come from having historically played GTA 1 or GTA 3 onward will never get to have that "WOW!" factor again in terms of what you experienced when you played GTA 3 for the first time, and appreciating the little things like getting to the top of the lighthouse in Vice City!

I guess it's difficult for a younger generation of gamers to understand that, and say things like how COD 4 was "THIS AMAZING GAME GROUNDBREAKING GAME" (even though it most likely was their first ever game they played).

If you look at RDR, how you were truly immersed in that world, and how the "Unique World Events" played a unique part in that... having those little moments of "WOW!" again is what will make GTA V "groundbreaking" for me.

Rockstar also has a lot of opportunity in creating an awesome multiplayer game, and supporting it through DLC. RDR took the map of the game and created some awesome multiplayer modes, so I think there's room here to making it an awesome game - because beyond the single player portion, that becomes the part a lot of people end up playing most.

I personally think that no game in the near future is going to "change" gaming history.

With GTA 3, rockstar didnt re-invent the wheel. They just happened to spin it really good, And with every gta that they release it just keeps on spinning.

I have a feeling that it could. Maybe I am overestimating the effect that the next GTA could and will have, but I look at it as something which could possibly be revolutionary to gaming.

GTA IV was to a certain extent and GTA III certainly was. I see no reason whatsoever why this installment can't be the same.

It COULD change gaming history as could any fantastically conceived game that rewrites the norms and redefines the envelopes of gaming.

That doesn't mean it WILL...

GTA 5 will only change Gaming History if it is better than GTA IV. Who knows, what if it's the worst GTA ever?

the fighting in red dead redemption was beyond horrible... I also hate how you can't swim, and the way your character fks up when he is falling from little distances.

Explain "Red Dead Redemption was really close"

After my gaming experience in all the GTA 3D games and RDR, I have to say, it's the best Rockstar Game yet, though Rockstar SD and RN are two different divisions under Take2

What exactly do you mean to infer?

Well GTA V kindof has the key elements to becoming a good game, Not only is it one of the most famous and overall best gaming franchises, they have a group of over a thousand people constantly working on it for the past 4 Years! (So Far!) Plus they have already used 80 Million Dollars just to back it up (so far) Plus this GTA has learned from the errors of IV and will surely improve, in true honesty, I think this game not only might be one of the best Games of all time, but it will also be one of the most sold games of all time! IV set gaming records back in its day, and back then not even 25% of the people that have consoles today had them back then. Damn Im getting excited just think about i! happy.gif
