allhailkingryan
I mean as an optional angle. It's a pain having to constantly pull back the right analogue stick if you want to use that view.

No he means like if you press select (on ps2) in GTA 3, and scroll through the camera angles, you would get a bird-eye camera. To the question giver, Yes, because I think it'd be cool to have a top-down 3d game. I would only use it for fun though. sonnyBlack
I liked it in III because it gave me the chance to see how the older GTA titles would've looked with better graphics and physics. It was just fun to mess around with when bored. I wouldn't mind seeing it return.

I couldn't have worded it any better than that.
TellEmRye
I'm not sure how it'd work, because IV is a very detailed game and so from a birds eye view, would it not be hard to shoot out people who are higher up than you? & so on. But I always thought i'd be good for R* to add in a little treat for when you complete the storyboard, to have a birds eye view game like GTAI in a arcade form. XxDylmeisterxX
I think it would be quite epic having a Bird's Eye View in it. Then you could see a lot more of what was going on below and would make it more fun.
TheBlackProject
That's not even a bird eye's view, a bird eye's view is from diagonal down. Not from top facing bottom.
Dymez
Optional. So, yeah, sure, it's not a problem. I wouldn't use it though. That's actually the only reason why I didn't buy Chinatown Wars. One angle I really don't understand why Rockstar put in all their games is the cinematic angles. Who actually uses that? In certain positions, you can't even see where you're going. People who make movies with the games. But the new features of IV's PC version's clip capture kinda negate that.
Nah Tso Gud
Bleh, don't think I'd enjoy it too much.. I enjoy having that 3rd dimension, it'd just be another bad camera angle to cycle through... iMO of course.. I sooo hope they can pull off the playback from any angle thing on consoles for the next game... Like Halos Theatre... Maybe be possible if its limited to the In-stream area. Anyway i would enjoy the angle a lot, it would be cool for a lot of things, really why not add it in? I really want to see better angles for the car, like instead of directly behind the car, where you can't see in front when going up hills, a camera angle 2-3 metres above and behind the car facing diagonally down would be fantastic, so you could see whats in front easier. I don't understand why there weren't many angle to choose from in IV actually.
Shayan Shaffey
It would be a nice feature for when you're bored, but I read on GTW that because they implemented the top-down camera in III they had to make the buildings shorter than in LCS. Even in CTW the buildings were shortened for the camera angle, so I think a hybrid top-down-diagonal camera would be better.

Original Light
Definitely approve. Roots back to the first GTA games. If I remember correctly, GTA VC did not have it. GTA 3 was the only 3D GTA game so far to have that when you also have 3rd perspn.

If the camera followed the protagonist like a bug, then building height should be no issue at all, provided the camera stays between buildings. then again i suppose if you got really close to a building (say on your right) The camera goes left a bit. Provided it was configured correctly so you don't end up with glitches where the camera is showing half of your car and half of the inside of a wall.
