Im sorry if this is not the correct place to post this but I need help and I don't know what the problem is.

When ever I go in to Multiplayer (any game), I always have a 1 block rating for my connection. My game is also very laggy.

Dose anyone know how I could fix it? I checked my Router also and I don't know what to do.

Any help would be great.

If your Xbox is connected via wifi then try moving it closer to the console or make sure nobody else is streaming or downloading while your on.

My xbox has a wireless connection, and the Router is in the Basement... It use to work fine, ever since last month it hasn't. cryani.gif

Well, it could be a few things, your router might not be working as well as it used to, or the xbox, have you moved furniture around at all? or had new piping or electrical devices installed? those things can interfere with signal, have you had new xbox updates installed?

But it could also be more internet traffic inyour area, meaning you are sharing internet with other people hence the network slowing down a little.

So is there anything I could do to fix it? I have not moved anything around so it may just be my xbox geting old. If I change it to a wired connection would that make it better?

Well a wired connection is always more stable, and usually faster than wireless, so that could improve the lag.

If it is the router, well you could:

A) Try cleaning all dust away from router (basements can be an often neglected area), turning the router off for a while, then turning it back on without the ethernet cable plugged in, when it is fully on, plug the ethernet cable in and see how you go. Try running a speed test after doing this and see if it faster.

Try again a while later and see if it has slowed down at all.

B) try the wired connection.

C) Request a router replacement.

Try A) first and tell us what happened.

More than 1 person using the router at the same time means you are sharing the connection, so yes it can cause performance drops, particularly if you are watching videos and such.

If your just browsing a few web pages you should be ok.

If you don't already, it's worth investing in the Wireless N Adapter. It has two antennas, so the signal strength is near enough doubled. I had the same problems as you but I:

Got an N Adapter instead of the normal one.

Cleaned up my router a little and turned it on and off every day or so.

Disconnected any PCs or smartphones connected to the internet when playing on XBL.

I had the Connection Issue with other players in RDR and returned out and in various sessions, basically not getting to play, After consorting with Mikey, I decided I'd unplug the router itself, (power went out the past month anyway) and only use a connection to the Xbox while it was on, since the router shares it's outputs. Don't have to unplug things as long as they're not actively connected
