Mince
Well personally I prefer to put the responsibility on the developer (VALVe in this case) to provide at least the bare minimum for support. So no, I do not believe that Microsoft is to blame for the complete lack of downloadable content to The Orange Box. I have accepted Microsoft's limitations on VALVe's release strategies, but I am forever disappointed by VALVe's inability to pick up from there. And if they are primarily a PC developer and like to put out ports they won't update, that's fine. I simply don't want to buy games from a company that treats a large portion of their playerbase (L4D2 Xbox players used to be 50% of the total players) as second-class customers and won't even dignify them with blog posts or Twitter replies, let alone paid expansions. It's a real shame too. I've probably clocked over a thousand hours on TF2 and L4D2. I've met so many good friends through L4D that it's insane. I just don't want to buy Global Offensive and be massively disappointed for a third time. So sorry if I went off topic... but I wanted to explain why I rationalized my low likelihood of purchasing CS:GO. The game does indeed look very fun, and there's quite a lot of good looking maps and guns. I've always enjoyed the gunplay in VALVe's games. Only problem is playing them too much and getting tired of all the guns . I even played the original Counter Strike on Xbox, although unfortunately I didn't get it until after Microsoft shut down the servers (real bummer). Plus aren't there some maps that are inspired by L4D2 landscapes? I remember seeing some screenshots that looked like they were.

Wait, you should be happy that there's another Valve game coming out for your console, Valve are based on PC and only. And 50% L4D2 players used to be Xbox players? Have you seen how many mods and maps there are for L4D2? The mods are more often played than the L4D2 itself, because many player's can't relate to the characters and some even buy the game because they liked a mod on L4D and it had a sequel on L4D2. And even if you complain about a Valve game being barely supported on X360, why not play it on your PC? It's not like it has crazy requirements, my laptop with integrated graphics can run Source games even with Anti-aliasing.
Freezer89
So, the game is being released in three days.. and the open beta is already running for a while. What do you think of it so far? I spent few hours in it and it's really fun with the new modes as well as the good old deatmatch matches on the redesigned maps. It's really worth the money (only 14€) Also the game is recommended for newbies or for those who are struggling with Source (not to mention 1.6).. Mr.Mister
I already pre-ordered this on PS3. I would have bought it for PC if games would actually properly run on it. Any improvements? Will there be respawn servers?
Mince
I hope to get this sometime. It's not that big of a priority now though. Probably won't be going on sale on XBL, but $15 for a legendary game like Counter Strike is unbeatable. I'd rather spend $15 on this than spend $15 on a single CoD map pack. I was hoping a friend of mine would buy it for me and him so we could play together, but we aren't talking now so eh. I'll get it myself eventually. Most of you have probably already seen this: Achievements on PC. But this was new to me: Achievements on Console. "God of War" reminds me of "Zombie Genocidest" from L4D. The map list seems a bit puny though. Only 16 maps, and the eight of those that are brand new are on a new game mode that has players respawning and not buying guns? Sounds crazy to me, but I've not played the beta or followed the game much. At least some classic maps with the regular gameplay are available. But geez, the port of Counter Strike for the Xbox in 2003 had 20-30 maps. 9 years later and we get way less maps. Hopefully the map assortment isn't too barebones to the point that they get boring easily. Glad to see that playing with bots is included in the game, though. I love playing with bots in L4D after several days of versus drama, so it will be welcome here. And also, Valve released a trailer for the game. And just like all their other Source Filmmaker projects, it's glorious and jizz-producing. Oh, and did anyone get their hands on the AWPer Hand? The promo for TF2? Looks pretty awesome. Scharkey
I read that the PS3 will support a keyboard/mouse feature. If this is true, I wonder how responsive it's going to be? I've never heard of it being used on a PS3 in a FPS before. And if done, if it even worked well.

Scharkey
dude you could play some games on the ps2 with a usb keyboard and mouse. So..? My question concerns the PS3. Exclusives like KZ and UC don't even feature mouse control as an aiming device. And if this is an option in CS:GO, this could be a huge balance issue for some players if it works right. Mince
I've never used a keyboard/mouse on a console, especially in a situation where it's natively supported, but I'm guessing it works fine. There will probably an option in the menus to change your sensitivity like with a controller. I don't necessarily think it will make too uneven of a playing field. The people who use KB/M will mostly be those who play the game more seriously, or play in competitive matches. I doubt there will be a KB/M pandemic where controller users go onto forums and post angrily about it. But if there is, Valve will probably add an option to only play on servers with certain input methods. I think the fact that you will be able to use controller, KB/M and PS Move on the PS3 version creates a good amount of variety and customization options in a game many of us will be playing all the time. The only thing better they could have done would be to give a free copy on Steam to those who buy the PSN version, but you can still buy two copies of the game for less than 50% of the price of any other AAA title now. Of course I'm only getting it on 360 so it doesn't apply to me. Unless I decide to grab it next year on the Steam Sale for the day when I get a better computer. edit- oh and yes, you could use a Keyboard/mouse on Half Life on the PS2. Never played that but it sounds like it was pretty sweet. Glad they are bringing that feature back, and I'm glad Sony actually allows this. Mince
Regardless of the reason, this is now the third Valve-related delay I've had to face (the previous two were the Sacrifice and Cold Stream DLCs for L4D2). I can't help but wonder if this is common across Xbox downloads, or if it's just a problem Valve has. I'll still be buying this game, because $15 is too good to pass up, but damn Valve. I guess this is better than delaying the Xbox version for several weeks. Any other Xbox players here getting this? Most of the people I used to play L4D2 with strangely hate CS, for some reason. Pat
I really think you're overreacting. PC gamers had to wait several weeks for Max Payne 3, a sequel to a franchise that started on the PC, and we had to wait roughly eight months for GTA IV. You only have to wait a day for CS:GO. Mr.Mister
PS3 player here, would have bought it for PC but my laptop is crap. Some problems... Two maps for Arms Race?! Mince
I'm going to download it now. I heard on SPUF that it takes ages to load a map and that the game is mostly broken. Not sure if exaggerating, but I'll check for myself.
OchyGTA
Played a bit today and for 1200 MS Points, it's a pretty good deal. It's probably better if you're playing with people you know as a lack of communication will most likely get you killed. I would have liked more maps for the hostage game mode as "Office" and "Italy" have already got a bit stale. By the way, I thought there was supposed to be a Zombie Mod or something? Mince
If it's just a "mod", it's probably only available on PC, rather than being an official game mode. The lack of maps seems stunning, but I'm used to it with Valve games. I'll be alright with the ones we have.
Daz
I was actually going to buy this just for a laugh, just a f*ck around game, nothing too serious, and was quite excited. Then I play the trial and you HAVE to be in game channel chat or you get booted. This call of duty bullsh*t all over again. I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO SCREAMING CHILDREN This is one of the many reasons that my first child will be an aborted one. I want to play while I talk to my mates who may be playing other games. f*ck you competitive gaming, eat a big fat GSG9 German sausage dick. Mince
I kinda agree. It's quite annoying to have to be in game chat. Don't see what the problem is. They could just not have you spectating the enemy team when you die. And not have all talk on by default. Worked fine on TF2, L4D1 and L4D2. I played a few games earlier and yeah, I heard loads of screaming and trash talk and whatnot. Edited August 22, 2012 by mincemate003

You cant just put this game on the 360 and refuse its features. I paid for that sh*t let me use it. Besides, anyone can cheat if they REALLY want to, use skype or phone their mate or whatever. This was intially what killed COD for me, other than the more obvious reasons. I just cannot stand games that do not cater for people who only want to play with their friends. Mince
So far I think it's pretty good, for $15. I paid 1/4 of what I paid for Portal 2. I am really liking the customization options. You can change your crosshair, remap each button individually, change the hud and FOV size, etc. Button remapping and crosshair changing is something I really wish was in L4D. I don't quite see the point of the new Arsenal and Arms Race game modes... it's basically just you running around and shooting blindly. There's no consequence for dying. No teamwork needed. Might be good for a more laid back game mode, but it seems insulting that they've moved the proper CS gameplay to two "classic" modes. And the maps are incredibly limited. Other quirks: - Can't pause the game when playing offline with bots (what kind of single player mode doesn't let you pause?) - Too many hints popping up and obstructing the screen. These also annoyed me on Portal 2. I know how to reload, considering I remapped that button myself, but thanks anyway. Please don't show up the next 10 times I have to reload. - As I mentioned above, the limitation on chat is annoying. You shouldn't be able to hear the enemy team's voice chat or spectate them. This wasn't in Valve's past three PvP games, unless All Talk was a server setting, so why would it be in this one? I've played tons and tons of L4D2 games where I was in a party with my friends. Can't see myself getting too addicted to this game. - Why can't reload and use be mapped to the same button? This is how it was in the original CS. It's annoying to have to get used to either B to reload or B to plant bombs and open the buy menu. - Barely any settings to customize in creating a game? Even in a single player game, you can only change the bot difficulty. Unless I'm missing something. Major step down from the old CS, when you could customize everything down to the bomb detonation time and bot weapon preferences.
