cidamelo
Counter-Strike is very popular in Brazil, my sons like but I don't like very much!
Mince
Sounds interesting. Would be nice to have a version of CS on current generation consoles. Never been much of a PC gamer myself. Personally I don't want iron sights in it. Practically every other FPS out there has them now. I enjoyed L4D1, L4D2 and TOB perfectly fine without them. I don't think them leaving the console versions in the dust is a problem anymore. They have kept L4D1 and L4D2 updated with DLC, although title updates have been pretty scarce. I wonder if it will have a hat store akin to P2 and TF2...
[SM]CJZera
And this is the part EA will really regret deciding to go out of steam... Great news indeed, it's also kind of fitting since a couple days ago some guys were doing a two-man "protest" outside Valve HQ wanting HL3
FullMetal
What I would like to see is something like Left 4 Dead, only counter strike themed. f*ck the multiplayer. It never seemed to work. For that 4 player co-op experience, the engine and the amazing gunplay. That is what I would prefer. This... now that would be something brilliant. They could go batsh*t insane with the possibilities!
Akavari
So this isn't going to be a huge step from CS:S? More-or-less like a high definition, iced out version of the game with some tweaks and new toys to kill people with?
The Killa
So this isn't going to be a huge step from CS:S? More-or-less like a high definition, iced out version of the game with some tweaks and new toys to kill people with? Correct. Honestly? I was pretty fond of a new Counter-Strike but if that's all they're doing... Then meh. Super, super, super meh. A 3rd new version of the same maps we've been playing for 12 years already. Surely there will be new maps but are those ever popular anyway? I'll have to see more info on this honestly before I decide if this is a pass or GO (teehee) What I would like to see is something like Left 4 Dead, only counter strike themed. f*ck the multiplayer. It never seemed to work. For that 4 player co-op experience, the engine and the amazing gunplay. That is what I would prefer. Sounds interesting but then I realize the idea of playing a CS-style L4D sounds just as boring as L4D itself. Which lasted for a grand total of 3 days in my Steam library. mrpain
Don't if this had been posted yet, so I'll just leave it here. Some gameplay footage, graphics are a meh at this point. But I'm still pretty excited for this game. They better have the Italy map, love killing those chickens
Moth
. On the PS3, players can use the game controller, the PlayStation Move motion controller or even a mouse and keyboard. PS3, Mac and PC players will be match-made against each other, clumped by skill, regardless of input device or platform. (Valve didn't demonstrate the PS3-PC.Mac cross-play to me today, but they confirmed that that enticing bit of networking is something they are striving to include in the game.) Link They kinda needed to add the keyboard and mouse support, since PS3 player would get destroyed by PC and Mac gamers. Kimd41
I am impressed and slightly dissapointed. - The maps looks amazing. - Models are mostly OK but the hand model and AK look bad, and animations are kinda bad. - All weapons share the same sound, probably because the game is at early stage. - The grenade throwing looks pretty bad, will be fixed probably. - Gay ass crosshair - No recoil at all/L4D2 style I'm preordering this sh*t for sure. mrpain
Ehh I'm with you on all of those points. I know graphics isn't all that important but for a game being updated to the current-generation of gaming, the graphics are really looking outdated. Plus not fancying that molotov and stun gun. Still, can't wait to get my hands on this.
s-paco
Meh, seeing those new vids.. I'm not really liking this at all. What's up with the new predator type crosshair? It's all over the place..

Kimd41
well,it's still in beta stagesure this will look much better when it nearly release Alpha I'd say. I'm positive that the crosshair will be changed, the sounds fixed and most things too when it releases. I think CSS used HL2 gun sounds on beta and L4D2 used CSS's on beta, so probably CSGO is using L4D2 sounds. Here's a comparison on CSS and CSGO: Edited August 26, 2011 by Kimd41

God you're f*cking clueless. Looking forward to this, but I doubt it'll really take off in the competitive community unless there are huge sponsored prizepots (which is actually a trend atm). Jesus'En'Hitler420
Look fine until you look at BF3. Just saying. Not really excited about this. I do not think I was ever excited about a CS game except CS:Condition Zero, and that was fun for only week. I kind of think that the reason there is so much fuss about CS is because in the first initial years, there was nothing like it and it's simplistic style of gameplay and low hardware requirements will always attract new comers, and those who like it will stay. As for me it just does not do enough as someone whose first FPS's were MoH:AA and BF1942. I just can't see anyone who is like me that would see anything in this except for the current (albeit massive) fanbase who will undoubtedly plug the sh*t out of it. I'm not in a hating position on this so do not get me wrong. I will definitely try it at some point, but when they first announced it a month ago and this is all they show in this generation where the big publishers are making new engines... geez I guess I'm just too much for BF3. I just do not think that at this time this will do enough. Reeks too much of cash-in, but at least they haven't whore'd it out like CoD (Avid lover here of the first Call of Duty if anyone cares) Edited August 27, 2011 by Jesus'En'Hitler420
DreamsLieHere
Cannot wait to get my hands on this, looks great but I don't see it replacing 1.6 as the game of choice for tournaments tbh, albeit it being a restructured and rebalanced Source. I like what I'm seeing from the early videos and screenshots, the redesigned maps look great, although like what Kimd41 said there are some models that need some work. Brown Sugar
Hopefully the people who have been playing counter strike since it came ut and have therefore mastered it won't automatically be as good at this as they are at css and cs 1.6, i'm just tired of getting my ass handed to me constantly every time I play it. Mince
Thought I would bump this, since it's the longer topic. The game is coming out on August 21st for $15. Are there a lot of people here planning on buying it? I'm sure some of you have gotten into the beta... personally I'm very split on buying it. Hopefully in a week or two I'll have made my decision. If this would be a pre-order already, I would buy it. Infact I want this game so bad, I'll buy 2 copies - one for my cousin's birthday on 23th August. AFAIK, all of my classmates will get it on day-0 too. All of us already have CSS and some have 1.6 and it's actually wonderful, since most of them are console gamers (only 2 aren't, which would count me and one other) who play only CoD or BF3. Seriously, it's £10, it's a damn steal compared to rehashed CoDs going for £40 every year..
Mince
I guess it is a good value for the price. But I'm worried about how the possible platform support disparity VALVe might create. Me being a die-hard fan of TF2 and L4D 1/2 on Xbox, and seeing the way they have neglected to try to keep the content equal on these games across platforms really upset me. I haven't got much trust for VALVe anymore. I guess you could say I'm afraid of buying the game, becoming too obsessed with it, and being inevitably let-down when VALVe begins building up other versions of the game. Or they pull a L4D2 and forget about it shortly after launch to focus on another game coming out (maybe HL3?). Just seeing how TF2 is currently in the middle of another huge update, and seeing how the L4D2 team "might" announce a release date for Cold Stream after 16 months of being worked on. The disparity is ridiculous. They seem to do everything in their power to make some of the greatest games become some of the most unenjoyable, unloved and unequal games. Pat
You have to remember that at its core, Valve is a PC-oriented developer. The fact that they offer console versions of their games is really only a formality - if you want to get the most out of a Valve game, the PC version is always going to be superior. Not to mention that Counter-Strike has always been very, very focused on accuracy and reflexes, both of which are gimped when using analog sticks instead of a mouse. It really is not a game designed for consoles, and I think the only reason Valve is releasing console versions is to make an extra profit.
