Finn 7 five 11 Posted August 11, 2011 Share Posted August 11, 2011 (edited) Spoilers alert. Cidamelo will get angry at me for this, but i believe Claude is an idiot. First off he got in with the gangs, that isn't real Smart, but after that he went on to blow up the triad fish factory, this is major gang warfare we are talking about here. While he is working for the mafia he also does work for the Diablos, so already he is playing both sides of the game, eventually he ends up killing the Don of the mafia, Salvatore Leone, and works for the Yakuza, he then proceeds to go attack the Diablos for protection money and kill several Yardie drug dealers. He begins to work for the yardies as well. After that he kills Kenji, and frames the cartel. So he doublecrossed and back stabbed every gang except for the Triads and Cartel, but they hate him anyway for attacking them. You should be proud of Claude that he can survive all this tough crap. Still he's an idiot, but he won't admit it in any shape or form(other than insults from Kenji and Ray). He wouldn't kill anyone, but if it's said so, he will do that for money. Also, He didn't back stab South Side Hoodz (Both, Puple Nines and Red Jacks), He wasn't even loyal to them before, and Red Jacks, he didn't do nothing to them... Claude is a cold blooded killer, he will kill anybody without regretting it a few minutes later, which is why he's one of my favorite characters. The reason he killed Salvatore Leone (Don of the Mafia), was because he had no choice to do so, he was betrayed by Salvatore when he attempted to blow him up with the car bomb, but Maria phoned ahead and warned him, the reason he killed Salvatore was because Asuka sent him to do so, to prove that he was no longer working for the Leone Mafia. I suppose Claude did what he had to do to find Catalina, he did it for a f*ckload of money, and some funky music when you completed the mission. -Blowing up the Triad Fish Factory, well that wasn't smart, but the triads already hated him before that anyway for attacking the triad leaders for your gang at the start of the game. -Doing missions for El Burro, the triads hated you anyway for working with the Mafia, so burning some triads for El Burro was a win for claude and the Diablos. -Destroying the Cartels spank ship was a way to get a small revenge on Catalina -Killing Salvatore, had to be done, it was either Salvatore or Claude. -Killing Kenji, Well that didn't achieve a whole lot for Donald Love since he just disappeared anyway, but it did inspire Asuka to wage an all out war on the cartel bringing Claude close to Catalina, and the Yakuza thought it was the cartel. This best sums up Claude in a nutshell, to me Claude was the most realistic protagonist of the series in the sense that his personality was very close to what most successful hired killers typically are in the real mob, mob killers tend to seem quiet and often obedient but in the end their only real goals are money and their own well-being, Claude wanted money and Catalina tried to kill him so naturally revenge and money were his only goals, Maria probably meant nothing to him and in the end was probably just an unwanted attachment he ridded himself of when the credits rolled. As for Claude being stupid, I'd say what he did was insane (as is getting involved with crime in general is) but I'd say he's more simple-minded than he is stupid, granted he is cunning and street smart but if he was truly stupid he wouldn't have lived to see the end of the game.
