dbakunin
I had this installed on my old Athlon X2 4200+/Radeon 4850/2GB DDR1 machine and, while kind of laggy due to obvious hardware discrepencies, it felt quick and responsive. Running was fine, driving was fast, it was exciting. I just put together a new machine, i5 2500k quad core/nvidia GT560/8gb DDR3, and i can have any settings I want essentially, the framerate is fine, but the gameplay itself is... awful. I feel like Im running and driving through a muddy marsh. Its not a performance issue so much as an internal pacing thing, and its rendering the game, well, completely UNFUN. I've read about this happening elsewhere. Its not the pirated drunk mode thing, I don't think. I bought the game through Games for Windows, so I have a key. That said, it will not download on this new computer (it gives it a good try, but gets to about 40% after three days and cancels itself), so I installed it off discs. Maybe thats relevant? OverTheBelow
Have you installed the latest Nvidia drivers? What graphics settings are you playing on?
SlaveZer0
make sure you video settings are 1. set to single display performance mode in advanced settings. then set the back settings slider to "allow the application to decide" and you should be golden. gta iv does not like additional settings pushed in by nvidia cards. nightwalker83
As OTB says check the in-game graphics settings and make sure they are not in the red, preferably green memory usage wise. Edit: What frame rate are you using?
dbakunin
I benchmarked and am getting 60+, everything runs really smoothly, no stuttering, draw distance is fine... followed your recommendations and its the same. I just can't understand why these things would affect how fast i run/my car goes/other cars go.
SlaveZer0
i will say that after playing burnout paradise or other real high speed games gta iv seems a little slow to me. it might just be your expectations are slightly more than reality?
